Layout• For the layout I liked the photo slideshow seen on the Korn

website. This is conventional of band websites as it shows off photographs of the band as well as giving announcements

• I also noticed that a sidebar promoting music, merch and tours was conventional of Post-Hardcore websites, as seen on the Pierce the Veil website and so I included that in order to attract the target audience to the music/album and merchandise

• It is conventional of websites for bands of the Post-Hardcore genre to have some news on the homepage, as seen on the Neck Deep website

• For my website I wanted to incorporate all these conventions in order to attract my target audience as it is not only appealing to the eye but it also matches the star image of the band

Images• It is conventional of Post-Hardcore websites to have images of the

artists on the homepage and another subpage called ‘media’ or ‘photos’ etc

• It is conventional to include photos of the band either at a photoshoot with their instruments, photos from their tour and photos of them performing with their instruments on their website, presenting them as organic rather than synthetic.

• This can be seen on Korn’s website, You Me At Six’s website and Neck Deep’s website.

Font

• Simplistic fonts are conventional of Post-Hardcore websites because scratchy fonts that are used on the digipaks, although suiting the genre, is not practical for a website as it is difficult to read

• Websites such as You Me At Six’s, Korn’s and Slipknot’s use both ‘scratchy’ ‘rocky’ fonts for their band names and then simplistic, easy to read fonts for the rest of the website.

• I stuck to this convention as it is practical

Colours• It is conventional of Post-Hardcore websites to have black

or dark backgrounds. This can be seen on Slipknot’s website and Korn’s website.

• In this case, the dark colours reflect the star image of rebelliousness, teenage angst and anti-authoritarianism.

• This attracts the target audience of the band as the colours not only reflects the star image but also the genre of the music.

• Dark colours are conventional of Post-Hardcore websites

Pages• It is conventional of any band/artist website to have multiple

pages• These include tour dates, contact forms, videos, music,

photograph, biography, news and store• I stuck to this convention, but I challenged the convention of

having a news page by including news on the homepage rather than having a separate page for it.

• I included a biography page, media subpages (music, videos, photos), a contact page and a store page (with subpages separating clothing, accessories, music and cart)

• This is conventional of Post-Hardcore websites• This can also be seen on Korn’s website, Pierce the Veil’s

website and You Me At Six’s website

Merchandise• It is conventional of Post-Hardcore websites to have a merch page

on their website• However, it is conventional to have a merch store on a separate

site – this can be seen on Korn’s website and Slipknot’s website• I challenged this convention and included the merch store as a part

of the main website.• This allowed me to keep to the websites theme, thereby attracting

the target audience by reflecting the genre and the star image in the colour and layout of the page

• Moreover, as for the merch itself, I created a vinyl record on the music store and main store. I saw vinyl records on websites such as All Time Low’s website and Neck Deep’s website. This allowed me to attract the target audience as this is the sort of merch other Post-Hardcore bands sell, along with the typical t-shirt, hoodies, dresses, wristbands and posters, which I also included
