    Facult y UpdateWe are at the time of year when we start to say farewellto colleagues and friends who are moving on to newadventures and who will, sadly, not be with us here inthe Elementary School in 2012-13. We will be sayinggoodbye to Amber Short ridge and Elaine Faust ino (Grade3), Linell and Irene Diaz (Music), Matt Pelkey and KarenGacusan (Preschool) , Mary Rose Domingo (Art ), RachaelHuelskamp, Jessica Reischel and Susan Piper (LearningSupport ), Kell ey England (Elementary Intern), Ria Ruiz(Grade 4), and Toni Narvaez (AFAC). We wish thesewonderful educators all the very best in the next phase

    of their lives and thank each and every one of them fortheir service and talents in working wit h children at ISM.

    In addit ion t o t hose leaving our school, Abigl Tomsit s(Preschool) will leave our Preschool to work as asubstitute teacher across the Elementary School nextyear, and Pippa Beetson (ESL) wil l move to t he HighSchool t o t each Psychology. There is one person,however, t hat we would like to part icularlyacknowledge. Coach Noli Reloj has been an ISM facult ymember for 33 years and will retire this year. We wouldlike to honor and highlight the enormous contribution ofCoach Noli , who has had a signif icant impact on so many

    students li ves. Noli wi ll be great ly missed.

    Along with these departing teachers, we have someconsiderable movement of teacher posit ions next year.All decisions about t eacher placement wit h t eams andgrade levels are about what is the best for our students that is, matching teacher skill sets and experience withstudents needs. Teacher professional growth is also animportant, alt hough secondary, considerat ion. Sectioncards, wit h information about your child s classroomteacher for the new school year, can be collected fromthe Accounting Office starting May 31st.

    Part of welcoming in the new school year i s to welcomenew facult y to our ISM Element ary School. For t he 2012-13 school year we wil l bej oined by: Joanne Chang(current ly at the Tiger Tots American Preschool inTaipei), as our new Kindergarten Program Leader; MeganDeBaun will teach Preschool (moving from theInternational School of Helsinki); Meg Landry as SpeechLanguage Pathologist in our Learning Support team (fromNew England); John Van Gaalen wi ll j oin us from TheBri t ish International School, Shanghai t o teach PE;Melissa Wosmansky (Int ernat ional School Ho Chi MinhCit y) wil l also j oin our Learning Support team; RobbieSmit h (Maple Bear Canadian Kindergarten in Hanoi) wi ll

    teach Music; as will Peachy Miller, who many of usalready know for her wonderful talents as a substituteteacher across the school here at ISM; Virginia VanGaalen (The British International School, Shanghai) willwork in our ES Art team; Jill ian Markham will move fromMiddle School to Grade 4 (back to the ES where shestarted); Il iana Sucre wil l j oin us as ES intern f romWashington, D.C.; Sofia Soler (ISM alum) wi ll j oinPreschool as a Teacher Assistant; Edvie Baral will be ournew Grade 4 Teacher Assistant; and Kristine Fong will bethe face of Aft er School Activit ies here in t he ESOffice.We look forward t o welcoming our new members of theES to t he ISM community.

    LastlyOur l ast day of the school year i s Thursday, May 31.Students wil l be dismissed at 12pm. At that t ime, we wi llsay goodbye to 77 students from the Elementary Schoolas they move on to new schools, new countries and newadventures. We wish the famil ies leaving us all the verybest of wishes. For everyone, leaving or returning,please enjoy a relaxing and safe summer break.

    I. IDs for the New School Year

    Parent IDs

    Current parent IDs will continue to be valid for the new school year 2012-2013.

    Parents who require replacement school IDs due to loss or damage can acquire these from the Securi-ty Office upon payment of Php100.00 to the Cashier.

    Student IDs

    All students will be issued with new ID cards at the beginning of the new school year. This year therewill be no need for returning students to visit the Security Office as we will be utilizing the photographstaken for the yearbooks.

    School Passes

    School passes issued to parents employees and representatives need to be replaced for next schoolyear. As of August 31, 2012 the blue bordered passes will be invalid.

    The security office is now accepting applications for new school passes, however the cards will not beavailable for collection before July 1, 2012.

    Each family will be given two free school passes. Additional school passes may be obtained after pay-ing a processing fee of Php100.00 each to the Cashiers Office.

    2, Car Stickers for the New School Year

    The car stickers for school year 2012/2013 will be available from the security office beginning July 1,2012.

    For vehicles already displaying an existing sticker, parents should submit a completed renewal formwith a copy of a current LTO official receipt. For new vehicles, parents are reminded that a copy of thevehicles certificate of registration and a current official receipt need to be submitted with the applica-tion. Applications for vehicles registered with companies or other institutions should be supported by aletter of assignment.

    Each ISM family will be issued one vehicle sticker free of charge. Any additional stickers will be issuedfollowing payment of P100 to the cashiers office.

    Dear Parents,

    Re-Enrollment for school year 2012-2013 is on-

    going. We advise all families to begin the processearly to avoid long lines.

    Please drop by the Admissions Office to pick-up yourRE-ENROLLMENT CLEARANCE FORM orvisit our web site at http://www.ismanila.org > AD-MISSION > Re-Enrollment & Withdrawal to down-load the appropriate forms.

    Clearance signatures are required from the

    following offices:AdmissionsHealth ClinicCashiers Office

    Step 1Admissions forms will need to be signed and submit-ted to the Admissions Office.

    Step 2All students are required to submit the Health Clin-ic Updating Form directly to the Clinic. This maybe done at any time. Incoming Grade 1, 5 and 9

    students must have page 2 of the document complet-ed by a licensed physician. We do recommend that allchildren have an annual check-up.

    In addition, all incoming Grade 5 and 9 students willneed to submit the Tuberculosis ScreeningForm.

    Step 3Beginning May 31, 2012 you may visit the CashiersOffice to settle your accounts.

    The Re-Enrollment Clearance Form will need

    to be submitted in exchange for your childssection card and/or class schedule. Please do

    not discard this form.

    WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURE

    If your family will be leaving before or at the end ofSY11-12, we would appreciate that you submit the

    officialWithdrawal Notification Form in orderto initiate the withdrawal process. Please note, thisdoes not pertain to Grade 12 students who will grad-uate in May.

    Grade 8 transition day next Monday May 28th: As a part of the HSGuidance organized Grade 8 transition day next week all of the grade8's will be given a brief presentation of ATAC and Fine Arts offerings forthe HS next year. What is on offer, how to sign up for activities, ATAC/FA blogs will all be covered to ensure all incoming freshman will be ontop of all that is happening and available to them in the co-curricularprogram next school year. A big thanks to the HS Guidance team forallowing us to be a part of this important day for our 12-13 HS fresh-man.
