Kath has spent time focusing on our transdisciplinary skills and dispositions and how we support the teaching and learning of these in our classrooms on a daily basis. Kath has provoked our thinking, challenged us and most of all, modelled the inquiry process with us, as we have gone deeper into these skills and dispositions. Aligned with this, Kath has also worked on using an inquiry approach within our literacy program and more specifically, how we can ‘inquire into’ reading and writing. Kath held a parent workshop on Tuesday about inquiry based learning and how we, as adults, can continue to foster that life long pursuit of ‘wondering’ and learning. One big idea that we walked away with, was that the more we as adults, can notice and name our own thinking processes, how we learn and ‘find out stuff’ (other than just google), the more our children will see this as second nature and a part of how they live their lives. The notion of building their own ‘learning power’ or capacity to learn new things, will be central to their lives as they grow older and pursue their passions. Thank you to all those who took part in Tuesday’s workshop with Kath.
