Kath Murdoch Visit
This week we have had the benefit of Kath Murdoch, educational researcher, consultant, and a world leader ininquiry based learning, working with all our teachers. Kathhas spent time focusing on our transdisciplinary skills anddispositions and how we support the teaching andlearning of these in our classrooms on a daily basis. Kath
has provoked our thinking, challenged us and most of all, modelled the inquiry process with us, as we have gonedeeper into these skills and dispositions. Aligned withthis, Kath has also worked on using an inquiry approachwithin our literacy program and more specifically, how wecan ‘inquire into’ reading and writing. Kath held a parentworkshop on Tuesday about inquiry based learning andhow we, as adults, can continue to foster that life longpursuit of ‘wondering’ and learning. One big idea that wewalked away with, was that the more we as adults, cannotice and name our own thinking processes, how welearn and ‘find out stuff’ (other than just google), the moreour children will see this as second nature and a part ofhow they live their lives. The notion of building their own‘learning power’ or capacity to learn new things, will becentral to their lives as they grow older and pursue theirpassions. Thank you to all those who took part inTuesday’s workshop with Kath. Below is the link toKath’s website, where there are a myriad of resources oninquiry based learning, for those who want to delve evendeeper and keep their ‘inquiry’ going.

Open House
Thank you to all our parents who were able to attend our Open House presentations last week. It was great tosee so many parents engaging with their class teachers and getting a deeper insight to both our pedagogy andour program. For those that missed the event, below is a link to a recording of the Little Theater presentation.
