Enterprise Mobility
Insights for
2012
Introduction
"While it feels!
like mobile just emerged! on the enterprise IT scene, !
chances are you already feel like you are behind the 8-ball. !
!Let’s face it, that’s probably true.
!Read on for some real-time
predictions about mobile and learn how to keep up as it evolves from
cool concept to IT industry !game changer.
Tablets will flood the enterprise Many companies
have already realized the potential of these new devices to transform their businesses and they are primed and ready to invest in making them truly useful tools for their employees.
Mobile !development is !already far beyond just!mastering the iOS or Android!platforms. To stay relevant, companies !have to look in-house to develop extended capabilities - or find a specialized partner who!is able to support them - on tasks related!to ideation, UX, mobile & backend !development, enterprise architecture!& governance, and !metrics & support.
Enterprises will speed up their mobile strategies
We’ve all accepted that! this is happening, but do we!
really have a solution? In the coming! months, many companies will strive to
develop governance models to address this trend.
Consumerization will continue its fast march towards corporations
We will see a significant improvement and increase in utilization of HTML5 and hybrid solutions as a cost effective answer to the challenges about platforms fragmentation and distribution constraints imposed by the app store owners.!!These technologies are not fully mature and are not likely to reach this level this year.
HTML5 and hybrid solutions will grow in maturity
Although this tends to be a more manageable issue when it comes to enterprise solutions, consumerization may invite this problem to the same level observed in consumer-driven
solutions.
Hybrid frameworks and HTML5 could help to address this problem, but they
are not yet complete solutions.
Device and platform fragmentations will continue to challenge enterprises
Security will be a high priority From app conception and design, through the development process, to distribution by public or enterprise app stores, companies have to be assured that their mobile development partners are experienced in enterprise scenarios and can bring the right enterprise architects and security experts to the table.
Companies looking to replace either Windows Mobile and the Blackberry platform, but do not want to pay higher prices for Apple (or even become locked in with just one device manufacturer) can find a good option with Android devices.
Android devices will be a compelling option for replacing 'older' platforms
