Message from the Superintendent

It is hard to believe that the month of September is over already, and we are well past the

midterm of the 1st quarter. Given all the changes we had to implement going into the

school year we are extremely fortunate on how well things have gone. Our success can be

contributed to the dedication of all the staff to provide the best and safest educational

environment they can. That is true for all staff from the lunch staff, custodians, students’

aides, teachers, coaches, and bus drivers. We are all working together and doing our part

to keep our school safe and open to the students. It is overly concerning that as the month

Ryder Ridgeway – Before caterpillars turn into butterflies they make a chrysalis. When

they pop out they have to dry their wings before they can fly.

Stetson Claver – Butterflies live everywhere except Antarctica.

We have learned so much about butterflies and we are so glad we got to share it with you!

(2020 MATH CONTEST WINNERS + NEWS) ^2 = MS. SABO

Hello everyone! Glad to have everyone back in the school. One thing that did

not get to be highlighted last year was the Math Contest. Way to go to every-

one who attended! - Shaylee Berg, Parker Hughes, Whitley Keiming, Mckenzi

Milburn, and Boone Smail. Special recognition to Mckenzi Milburn on

receiving an honorable mention on two of the tests taken. This means her test

scored in the top 16%-35% of her grade level. Also Special recognition to

Boone Smail for receiving a superior on all of his tests. This means his

test scored in the top 15% of his grade level. I have not heard yet if we will be

having the Math Contest this year in person or if it will be possible to do it

virtually.

Now in my classroom I have students working hard in class. Ask your students in

8th through 11th grade about their cinnamon roll goals and how they can use them

in the classroom.

If your student ever needs extra help I am available after school and on Fridays we

can do a virtual tutoring session. They would need to let me know by Thursday.

Heads up that soon the Seniors will be selling chocolates again. Great for Christmas

presents or to give appreciation to a person you care about.

Hope this year goes well and that we strive in our academics, clubs, and sports.

Go Bearcats!!!!! - Ms. Sabo

Kindergarten 1 Community Helpers

The 2020-2021 school year is officially underway for the part-time Kindergarten 1 class. On

September 15th we welcomed five students to the classroom! It has been a great start and they are all learning so much!

To kick off the school year, our Kindergarten social studies and science unit is Community Helpers. Each Thursday we have joined with the full time kindergarten class and meet with lo-

cal community helpers. We started the unit with a fun talk and tour of the police cars from our Judith Basin County Sheriff’s Office. I am not sure what was more popular with the kids, sit-ting in the back seat of the police cars or pressing the siren button!

Last week the two kindergarten classes walked to the Stanford Post Office for a great tour.

The students were able to see how mail in our town and around the country travels. Each stu-dent was also able to bring home a post office coloring book. To wrap up the unit we had an am-bulance tour last week and will have a fire tour later in the month.

Kindergarten 1 is off to a great start with lots of more learning and adventures ahead!

Counselor’s Corner

Hello Everyone!

I hope the year has been as off to a good start for you all as it has for me! It feels so amazing to be back home at Stanford Public

Schools, and I am so excited to be here! I am only working part-time; therefore, I will only be at the school 2 days a week. I will

always try to be there on Tuesdays/Wednesdays, but there will be a couple times I will be there on different days. However, I am

always available by email so please do not hesitate to contact me through my email. I am looking forward to working with you and

making this a great year!

Announcements

If anyone would like to be added to the (in)eligibility email list as a parent, please call or email me at the school with the email

you would like notifications sent to. I will then email you if your student is ever on the (in)eligibility list rather than a paper report

by mail.

If any parent needs a new Infinite Campus login to get into their parent portal, please let me know, and I will get you the login

information that you need so you can keep up with your students’ academics as well as help us keep them successful! There is also

an Infinite Campus app for your phones that notifies you of your students’ academic progress so if you do not have that yet, I real-

ly encourage you to download that app on your phones! Same goes for students!

Some important Dates & Reminders

September 28 - October 9, 2020: - Free College Application Week: High School seniors can apply to any Montana colleges with a

free application during this week; however, the application fee is normally just waived/deferred, and once you decide to go to that

college, they will charge your account for the application fee. If you do not choose to go to a college(s), then there is no fee; there-

fore, you can apply to numerous colleges without the expensive application fee during this week. All resources for our college ac-

cess events can be found at our college access website: mus.edu/college-access.

October 26-30, 2020: Red Ribbon Week: High School Students will normally attend a presentation in Fergus, but we have not

been informed of what is going on this year. There will be K-12 activities and dress up days for the week so be on the lookout for

more information about this.

October 29, 2020: End of 1st quarter

Please be checking your student’s grades on Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Please contact me to setup login infor-

mation if needed.

FAFSA

Financial Aid (FAFSA) priority deadline for the federal application is on June 30th. Please contact me if you need anything. For

more information: https://studentaid.gov/

Scholarships

There are several scholarships available if you look for them. I will scan copies of scholarships to seniors that they can work on

throughout the year that come across my desk. Seniors need to be getting recommendation letters for scholarship applications.

There are varying due dates for each scholarship so be aware of deadlines! Some great scholarship helpers are scholly.com and

gomerry.com that will match your students profile with scholarships that they are eligible for.

College Information

If anyone needs information about colleges or help with anything, please do not be afraid to come see me. I have an abundance of

brochures, catalogs, etc. I will help in any way that I can or you are more than welcome to call me at the school! I have told stu-

dents that I am always available by email. :)

Students get 2 days that do not count toward absences to tour colleges, so please take advantage of this opportunity!
