PRISONS

Tenders are invited from approved local manu-facturers for the supply of the following clothingmaterials to Federal Prisons during the period istAugust, 1969 to 31st July, 1970 :-—

(a) Blue Striped Drill——Required (35,000)thirty-five thousand yards unbleached grey cottondrill, 74 ounces, 28 inches wide, with 4-inch wideblue stripes: running lengthwise 6 inches apart.

' Such striped drill should be manufacturedexclusively for the Prisons Department.

(0). Red Striped Drill—Required (45,000) forty-five. thousand yards unbleached grey cotton drill,74:eunces, 28 inches wide, with 4-inch wide redstripes running lengthwise 6 inches part. Suchstriped drill should be manufactured exclusivelyfor the Prisons Department.

2. The above quantities are estimated require-ments only and are subject to alteration. Specimensof the clothing materials may be inspected in theoffice of the Director of Prisons, Alagbon Close,Ikoyi, Lagos.

3. Tenders should state the price per yard of eachclothing material on delivery to the Federal PrisonsCentral Stores, Ikoyi, Lagos. Such price shouldinclude all charges for packing in wooden boxes,steel banded, handling andfreight.

4. Tenders must include guarantees of deliverywithin six weeks from the date of contract and shouldbe completed on or before: 31st December, 1969.

3. Background andfunctions._—Underthe authorityof the Director, Office of Hydrology, and Secretaryof the Co-ordinating Council; of the InternationalHydrological Decade, the incumbent will promotethe national and regional. pr es of the IHDin the Asian region. In performing this task he shall:

(a) act as an Assistant Secretary of the Inter-national Hydrological Decade im the region for allmatters concerning the International HydrologicalDecade delegated to him by the Secretary ;

(6) assist in the execution of Unesco’s -pro-grammein hydrology throughout Asia (South Asiaand South-East Asia regions)

. () negotiate matters pertdining to national andregional assistance projects, which could befinanced through the Regular Programme, UNDP,or other sources ;

(d) assist Unesco Headquarters in selectingcandidates for fellowships and training courses ;

(e) organize and attend meetings of regionalcharacter and importance;

(f) give scientific and technical. advice in thefield of hydrology to governnjents and national andregional scientific institutions.

4, Qualifications—(a) University degree, or itsacademic equivalent, in one of the basic or appliedfields of earth sciences, with specialization in surfacewater or groundwater hydrology.

5. Language requirements—Good knowledge ofEnglish, with a working knowledge of Frenchdesirable.

Travel is provided for the expert and his dependants(spouse and children under 18 years of age).
