Background
Parkinson’s WA
Parkinson’s WA provides a community-based
Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist Service; support
networks for people with Parkinson’s and
their family carers; educational resources and
training for allied health professionals in the
best practice management of Parkinson’s.
A Walk in the Park
In 2010, Parkinson’s WA staged its very first walk
under the name ‘The Parkinson’s WA Unity Walk’.
Support for this event has increased steadily,
with over 700 participants and numerous
organisations supporting last year’s event.
The event incorporates a 2km or 5km walk around Perry Lakes Reserve and a community festival with food vans, entertainment, celebrity emcees and wildlife.
A Walk in the Park raises vital funds to support our services for people with Parkinson’s in WA, and raises awareness of Parkinson’s in the wider community.
The Opportunity
The following proposal outlines a number of exciting opportunities for sponsorship of A Walk in the Park 2015 at Perry Lakes Reserve, Floreat on Sunday 13 September 2015.
On a national level A Walk in the Park will take place in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra. While the sponsorship opportunities presented here are for the WA event only, exposure on a national level through an integrated national website and fundraising platform is a bonus.

The Event A Walk in the Park is a community event with a festival atmosphere. The event runs for approximately six hours, centred around a 5km or 2km marshalled walk.
Participation has increased steadily over the past four years, and we expect around 1,000 attendees at the 2015 event.
A Walk in the Park always enlists the support of a local celebrity as an event ambassador and emcee. Last year this position was taken by Carmen Braidwood, Destination WA presenter and 96fm Breakfast Show co-host.
Entertainment at the event is varied, with music (both live and DJ), children’s characters, face painting, petting zoos and inflatables. Last year, in a first for this event, a ‘Dinosaur Hunt’ took children around the 5km course, following a map and seeking hidden dinosaurs, with prizes from the WA Museum - this was a huge success, and will be offered on both courses for 2015.
A variety of food and refreshment options - which in the past have included Olé Paella, Cocktail Gastronomy’s ‘Coffee Lab’, Mini Melts Ice Cream and Hot Pot Popcorn Co - are always on offer.
Prizes are awarded on the day for our biggest teams, best dressed, highest fundraisers and more.
