Values & Mantra

Values Statement

At Ballet Nouveau Colorado we believe that excellence in dance begins with the dedication of each individual. We pursue our mission with the highest level of passion and integrity and are responsible to our students, audiences and community. We believe that a healthy and reasonable foundation in classical ballet develops discipline and provides the basic tools needed for the exploration of new possibilities in our art form. We value collaboration, creativity and innovation in all of our pursuits and we believe that dance should be an enriching and fulfilling experience that is available and accessible to all.

Mantra Statement

Community, Collaboration, Creation

BNC’s philosophy centers around these three fundamental valuesthat shape the direction of our three programming areas. Each area is deeply tied to the others and informs, inspires and influences the way each area grows and serves the community.

2007 - The arrival of Artistic Director Garrett Ammon and Associate Artistic

Director Dawn Fay mark a transformational change for BNC.

2010-2011 season- BNC’s collaboration with Colorado band Paper Bird in Feb. 2011 performs to sold out audiences; encore performance in June 2011 at Arvada Center breaks previous CenterFest attendance records, performing to 1,100 individuals.

Provided critically needed arts education to 20,000 underprivileged youth

in elementary schools across Adams, Broomfield, Jefferson, Boulder and

Denver Counties. More than 80% of these students fall below the

federal poverty line and up to 25% are classified as homeless.

Gave free tickets toover1,200 low-income, senior and at risk individuals

for BNC’s five professional productions, thus offering a memorable night of

entertainment and inspiration to those who would not have had the

opportunity to witness the beauty of the arts.

Provided$70,000 in scholarships and tuition assistancefor students to

train at The School of BNC.

Established new classes at The School of BNC for senior citizens and

students with special needs.

2010-11 Season Successes

Page 8: BNC Sponsorship Opportunities

BNC offered Denver metro audiences five professional productions reaching

nearly 10,000 individuals, growing our audience by nearly 20% and

subscribers by 73% over the previous season.

Presented a contemporary dance season of four world

premierecollaborative productions with more than 20 local artists.

Carry Onfeaturing Paper Bird was presented to over 1,100 audience

members in one evening, a new record in the history of Centerfest.

Began a regional touring program to bring contemporary dance to

communities across Colorado. Over12months, BNC presented productions in

Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Crested Butte

2010-11 Season Successes

Page 9: BNC Sponsorship Opportunities

The Financial FactsIn 2010-11, BNC trimmed its annual budget by approximately $200,000 or 13% from the

previous season, and the operating budget for 2011-12 has remained flat at $1.4M. Despite

necessary budget cuts, we've been able to do so without having to make any critical

programming cuts.

Did you know that ticket sales account for only 27% of the cost for BNC’s professional

productions? This is why sponsors and donors play such a pivotal role in BNC’s success.

In fact, 51% of BNC’s operational budgeted revenue must come from fundraising.Sources of

funding come from the following areas: 44% fees earned income, 19% individual contributions,

16% SCFD government,8% business, 6%foundations, 4% in-kind and 3% events.

In 2010-11 individual giving was down over the previous year. With a challenging fundraising

environment since 2008 due to the economy, BNC has had year-end losses for the past

couple seasons. BNC is determined to increase financial stability and pay off accumulated

debt, but we can’t do that without more community support.

You and your company can make a major impact in your community by becoming a BNC

sponsor. You may or may not be aware that arts organizations, including BNC, are facing

decreasing support from corporations and government than ever before. Your sponsorship

support is an investment in your community, is instrumental in our viability, and also provides

your organization with a high-level of marketing visibility and ROI.
