Sports term This really is the term of sport and Mr Payne has already been to see me to discuss what we are going to put on for our children this year. I can promise you there will be lots of fun including our normal sport’s day plus house matches in rounders and cricket.

As you will know, SATs tests start next week (week beginning 9th May 2016). Your children have worked really hard this year and have made good progress. We are looking forward to being able to report some pleasing results to you later in the term. Please help your children by making sure they get a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast. They don’t need to stress because their teachers have prepared them well.

Above you can see Alicia Howells on a camel at Harewood House last weekend. Looks great fun doesn’t it? Thanks to mum for the photo.

It’s lovely to see someone engrossed in their reading. I noticed Olivia doing just that this week in our library.

Due to the success of previous events, we have decided to hold another Sleepover at school this year. The total cost of this will be £12, which includes everything except tuck shop so please send your child with some change if they want tuck. There will be juice provided on the Friday evening as well as a tuck shop and hotdog stall. Toast, fruit and juice will be provided for breakfast on the Saturday. Games and DVDs will be available along with quiet rooms. Weather permitting, the bouncy castle may be on the field. Your child will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow, pyjamas and toiletries. No electronic games or mobile phones are allowed, school has the use of a phone if an emergency occurs. There are a limited number of places, bookings will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Uniform Please, please, please can I encourage parents to name their children’s clothing. It is the time of the year when children are on the field etc and they take off a jumper or cardigan. You would be surprised to see how many items of clothing we get as lost property.

Summer Weather Also on a similar theme could I please remind parents that children need a water bottle, sun hat and maybe creaming up before they come to school. At this time of the year they can spend a while outside on the field etc.

Longroyde Chick Watch is back! This week we have re-introduced chicks back into Year 3 so the children can experience the joy of seeing them hatch and grow. If you too would like to share in this you can log onto Longroyde.weebly.com to see all the action.

Thank you for bearing with us on Thursday this week when the school’s Creative Arts Room was used for voting.

Enlargement latestPlans are moving apace for our enlargement. This week Mr Fox has met with Mrs Grange, Mrs Wood (Acting HT), Mrs Buchanan, Mrs Ayrton, Mrs Nixon and Mrs Mellor. Mrs Lyall has been busy meeting Mrs Grange and the
