Anzac CeremoniesTomorrow we will have our school ANZAC ceremony. The K-2 assembly will commence at 9:15am and the 3-6 assembly will start at 10:00am. Our special guest is a current servicemen from Tasmania who placed a cross on a grave site in a cemetery in Egypt. That cross was made by one of our Year 6 students. Amazing!School PhotosPlease remember to return your School Photo order forms as soon as possible. Our photo days are on Wednesday 22 May and Thursday 23 May. K-2 and Special Education photos will be on the Wednesday and 3-6 will be on the Thursday. Please remember that family photos are also available. Simply collect a family photo order form from the front office and return with payment prior to the day. These photos will be taken at recess and lunch times.K-2 Cross Country CarnivalThis very entertaining event will be held on the back playground on Friday 10 May. All parents are most welcome to attend.Parent Pre-School Transition Meeting – For Students with Additional NeedsIf your child is enrolling to start school in 2020 or 2021 and has additional needs we are hosting a parent information afternoon today between 4:30pm and 5:30pm in the library. This is for students who will be requiring additional transition to school. SportOur PSSA girl’s cricket team played South West Rocks

yesterday. As usual they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The girls scored the winning run off the last ball of the game. This is the second game in a row that the girls have done this. Nail biting cricket! Congratulations. Thank you Mr and Ms Best for coaching the team.I hope the boy’s trialling for higher honours in rugby league today are playing well.Mother’s Day StallThe P&C will hold its annual Mother’s Day Stall on Monday 6 May. Gifts are between $2 and $15. Classes will take turns at visiting the hall with their teacher. Thank you in advance to the lovely mums who order all the presents and assist the children with their purchase on the day. I can assure you the boys and girls love buying presents for their mums. Mum’s do love gifts from their children. Bronze AssembliesNext week we will have our Bronze assemblies during the usual Stage assembly time slots. Parents would have received an invitation this week if your child is receiving an award. You are most welcome to attend. If a student didn’t achieve a Bronze certificate in the first 10 weeks of the year they can still achieve their Bronze level at any stage during the year. Future Bronze certificates will be presented at the fortnightly Stage assemblies.

Major Capital Works Update

Work is progressing well on our sensational 13 classroom building. The children are enjoying observing the building process. One principal is very excited about the whole project and is often found in the library taking it all in. I’ve included some photos of the progress. At this stage we are anticipating a late November completion. Asbestos has been stripped out of the old canteen/hall block ready for an amazing refurbishment to commence. Thank you to Mr Hurrell who has vacated his area over the holidays. The tender for renovations on our main toilet block closed yesterday and I’m looking forward to working with the successful company to not only update but transform the two toilet areas into four separate spaces. This will mean that K-2 and 3-6 students will have separate toilet facilities.

On Wednesday 1 May, our Girls Cricket Team played a marvellous game against South West Rocks. On a day of perfect conditions, our girls bowled first and were superstars. Jess M took 3 wickets from her 5 overs which was a superb effort, and was supported by Lily B, Tiana D and Anna R who took a wicket each. Evie G orchestrated two amazing run outs. With a competitive total of 66 it was once again a last ball thriller! We started well and worked in solid partnerships with Chloe R performing well with the bat, smashing a few around the park including a big 4, supported by Brianna B and Emily B. With 1 to win on the last ball, Marney R hit the winning run to much delight.Congratulations on another fantastic win girls, you played with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
