Rotary Australia and New Zealand Student Exchange

The Rotary Australia and New Zealand Student Exchange program is

looking for expressions of interest from students who will be in Year 9

or 10 in 2013.

This program is designed for 14-16 year old students to experience a true

„exchange‟ with a family in New Zealand. Local students are matched with a

New Zealand student who will travel to Australia and attend school here during

Term 2, 2013. Both students then return to New Zealand and attend school

there for Term 3, 2013. The student‟s family hosts the NZ student and includes

them in their normal family life.

This is an exciting way to experience another culture with the support of

Rotary.More information and expression of interest forms can be found

at www.ranzse.com.au Expressions of interest close 30th June 2012.

OPEN SOCCER FIGHTS A NAIL BIGHTER IN CHS KNOCKOUT

With a planned and projected campaign ahead of them,

the WHS Open Girls‟ Soccer team are hoping to gain a

similar placement as last year. However, last week‟s close

and challenging game against Ballina High saw some

close shaves and caused many to hold their breath.

However, a final win of 1-0 for Wauchope delivered the

home side yet another chance to move toward their goal.

OPEN GIRLS RUGBY UNION

Last Monday May 21 our girl‟s rugby teams played Westport High School. The Opens did us very proud against last year‟s State finalists. The girls really put it to Westport and for most of the first half it was 5-5 after a fantastic try .The girls tackled well, set up the ball really well and were good at the breakdown. All

in all it was an excellent effort.

U15’s GIRLS RUGBY UNION

Our U15‟s were awesome when they defeated Westport High 56-10 recently. There is no reason if they train hard that they won‟t go a long way in this year‟s State KO competition. We scored ten tries to two and were always in control. Seven players scored tries. The girls were dynamite with the ball in hand and defended strongly. Our girls gave us go forward up the middle and our backs were too quick and strong. It was the first time we have ever beaten Westport in girl‟s rugby. Well done U15‟s. You guys were very, very impressive.

FOUR NOTICED BY SELECTORS IN TOUCH FOR NORTH

COAST TEAM

Four students from Wauchope High School were selected to represent the north

Coast Open Boys Touch Football Team to play at the NSW State Tournament.

PBL ??? What is it? How does it affect you?

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) has been part of Wauchope High School now for three years. At its heart are our three core values which underpin all that our community strives for—Best Effort,

Care and Respect and Safety at all Times.

We acknowledge students who practise these values with the merit scheme. Students can collect a

variety of merit and award certificates in a calendar year to earn a gold card for the following year.

Points:

Best Effort, Care and Respect and Safety at All Times (PBL) awards —1 point (from class, play-

ground, sport, assemblies or around school)

PBL awards from Casual teachers —2 points

Merit award—4 points (presented at Year Assemblies)

Blue letter—6 points

Excellence award—8 points (presented at Excellence Assemblies)

Certificates: Bronze— 10 points Silver—30 points. Gold—60 points

So far this year 47 bronze and 3 silver certificates have been awarded. To receive your Certificates

you need to bring your awards to Miss Gorton in the library once you have earned 10 points

ANOTHER YEAR OF SUCCESS AT ZONE CROSS COUNTRY

Recently a strong team from Wauchope High School

contested the Zone Cross Country with another resounding

successful result. As overall winning school, many of our students were well placed, a factor supported by the

relatively high number of students who carry natural fitness

or are interested in sporting activities.

Congratulations to the whole team, especially as so many

gained places in the first fifteen spots!

Wet and tired, but still smiling,

1st, 2nd and 3rd in 18 boys,

Congratulations!

Congratulations 5th!

Running in 1st!!
