Dear Parents, I had the very difficult task of joining the panel of judges for the MP2 Speech Competition on Wednesday. The annual speech competition started at the TX Campus in my first year at TX, 6 years ago. The competition was for children in Year 5 and 6 and raised the importance of competence in the skills required to speak in front of an audience. Three years ago, the competition was introduced to MP2. On Wednesday, the 10 finalists demonstrated what amazing levels Year 3 and 4 are now achieving. The confidence with which they presented; the clarity of their speech; the way they

engaged with the audience and the research done to produce such interesting, coherent presentations was creditworthy. Well done to all the finalists and particularly to Iris, Naomi and Sooa who took the first, second and third. Today, MP3 children performed their production, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ for the TX campus. This was their first dress rehearsal however it was almost flawless! I would strongly recommend that you come and watch the performance on Tuesday 14th April at 6pm. You will be truly entertained by lively singing and dancing as well as having a laugh at the quirkiness of Willy Wonka. I would like to remind you that Term 2 will finish next Friday at the earlier time of 11:30am. Term 3 will start on Monday May 4th. Security From Monday May 4th, all parents and visitors to the TX campus will need to show their security cards. If you forget your card then you will be asked to exchange a personal ID card e.g. a driving licence for a Visitor Pass at the gate.

On Wednesday we held the MP2 Speech finals. Ten finalists were selected from across Year 3 and 4 to compete for the prestigious title. The children in the Milepost have been preparing their speeches for a few weeks in class and practising hard at home. Indeed, the quality of speeches was excellent across the board. The theme of the competition this year was healthy living. The judging panel of Ms Sue, Mr Ian and Ms Jane had some very tough decisions to make when choosing the winners. Iris from 3T was chosen as the winner this year with her outstanding speech about the negative effects of sugar in our diets. She certainly gave us a lot of food for thought! Second place was awarded to Naomi from 3X, for her interesting and interactive speech about the benefits of yoga. The judges awarded Sooa from 4X third place for her thought provoking speech about healthy lifestyle choices. The finalists were Mei, David, Dishan, Daniel, Khang, Dang Nguyen and Minh

Anh. These children all performed very well and should be very proud of

themselves talking in front of such a large audience so confidently.

The MP2 staff were very impressed with the hard work and commitment that many children had shown in preparing their speeches, so for the first time Highly Commended Certificates were awarded to the children who we felt had gone the extra mile with their work. Ms Emma Year 4 Teacher and MP2 Leader

U11 Boys Football vs ISHCMC

On Wednesday 8th April the U11 Boys Football team played against ISHCMC. The team consisted of; Chi Nhan Phan, Pana Duong, Gia Vinh Le Nguyen, Tyler Nguyen, Anh Khoi Ngo Pham, Bao Tran, Vi Tri Khuu, Anh Vu Dang. From the onset of the game the TX squad found it difficult to keep up with the intensity of the game. The ISHCMC team implemented tactics and strategies that culminated in several goals being scored through-out the first half. However, Pana made some superb saves and continued to communicate with the TX defenders. Anh Khoi made some superb tackles throughout the second half. However, the opposition had overall possession and this resulted in them winning the match. The player of the match goes to Gia Vinh for working up and down the field supporting both attacking and

defending play!

Plastic cups at the water dispensers!

In support of Waste Week, plastic cups will not be available at the water dispensers around the school next week! Water will of course still be available, and children will be able to fill up their water bottles as usual. Children who forget their water-bottle can ask a teacher for a plastic cup …and their request will be noted! Parents and visitors to the school who don’t have their own water bottle can take a drink in the office using a glass. In this way we will all be supporting TX in its effort to reduce. So when you are looking for a drink of water, remember:

Reduce, reuse, recycle too, The Eco-Teams are watching YOU!!!
