Your wedding party is not just there to look pretty and smile for

the camera. Make sure you are utilizing the people you have carefully

chosen as a means of communication. If you are nervous about demands

you are putting on the wedding party, ask one of them to be the

messenger for the rest of the group. This will apply less stress to you and

you will not be viewed negatively once it appears the decisions were

made by committee. If you prefer your entire group to have their hair and

makeup done professionally, for example, make a plan. Ask your MOH to

lay out the cost per person and timeline for the day rather than you

asking for the opinion of each individual. This will ensure that you do

not have to take a poll and decisions are made

quickly and the day is organized.

We are hosting an amazing wedding show on

We met Katie and Billy back in August of 2014. They were so wonderful to work with and we are excited to share their gorgeous wedding

with you. From the flowers to the bridesmaid dresses, all of the details were picture perfect.

THE PROPOSAL: Katie and Billy are High School Sweethearts! They dated all throughout and never skipped a beat. Here is the proposal story as

told by Katie: “Billy and I had gone back to Arizona to spend the holidays with my family. We grew up there together so it's always a busy

time visiting with friends and family. We had planned a hike together on Black Mountain. I did not think anything of it as I always plan to

hike when I'm back in AZ as one of my favorite activities. He has coordinated with one of our close friends to hike up to the top

prior with the ring, flowers and music. It was so completely unexpected I actually had really pushed myself to the top and was super

confused and exhausted when I saw everything. It was beautiful and so perfectly planned. After, he had planned an engagement party that

evening with all of our friends!”

THE DETAILS: “I honestly did not go into my original planning with an overall theme. I suppose I was really just going for a simple, somewhat

vintage elegance. Thankfully it all came together. I spent a lot of time at anthropology's wedding website BHLDN. At the end of the day our

wedding was really a family craft littered with sentimental items. I used my mothers vail, Billy's parents Wedding Topper, our large entry

chalk board was crafted by our Aunt Mary and calligraphy from cousin, and bridesmaid, Kat. We used Billy's Dads classic El Camino for

photos and our Cousin Matt was the officiant. Family is so important to both of us and we wanted this event to celebrate that.”

Thank you to Katie and Billy for sharing your big day with us here at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club!

The concept of being over prepared will

never apply to your wedding day. The one

item people typically leave out are

emergency “getting ready” kits .Create a list

of items that you may need such as scissors,

Band-Aids, a small sewing kit, tampons, hair

pins, safety pins, emery boards, etc. Place

these items in a basket that can be placed in

the area where you are getting ready for the

day. You may also want to consider making

a similar kit with design items for anyone

assisting with the reception set up. This

basket can include extra ribbon, candle

holders, another pair of scissors, markers,

pens, pins, place cards, etc.

When you ask your friends to be a part of your big day, their first feelings will be of

elation and honor. Once those lovely thoughts have subsided, the reality sets in that

they are essentially required to be at the mercy of your fashion sense and the price

tag that comes along with it. A ‘bridesmaid’ dress does not have to be a jail sentence

and $300+ fine it once was. There are large companies that offer numerous dress

styles in varieties of colors. This will offer the ladies a slight sense of customization,

but even these can be pricey once all of the alterations are complete. The issue here

is not that they wouldn’t all look gorgeous standing in the coral frock you chose; it’s

that they will NEVER be able to wear it again. While this isn’t your problem, your

maids will love you more if you allow them purchase from a place that sells dresses

they may be able to repurpose. Some of the best examples we have seen are by

companies such as Anthropologie, Mod Cloth and J. Crew. All of these companies

offer amazing dresses at reasonable prices, and carry the distinct advantage of

being able to be worn to another event. Miss-matched bridesmaid dresses have been

on trend for quite some time, so making it cost effective and on style trend for

everyday use is a bonus.

Be kind to the crew you have chosen to represent you and let them roam free of the

poly cotton blend you undoubtedly are considering because it “works for all body

types”.
