HISTORY The origins of The Old Rectory date back to 1796 when Lea Hall, now demolished, was the home of Reverend Sir William Anderson, 6th Baronet. He was the owner of the Lea estate, as well as being Rector of the Church. He was a descendant of historically important Sir Edmund ‘Judge’ Anderson, who was appointed by Elizabeth 1 in 1582. An etching on a downstairs room glass window records it was engraved in August 1799. In 1913 the Duncombe- Anderson family sold the Lea Estate. The highly respected Marshall family bought the Rectory from Diocese of Lincoln in 1947.
