food was my besT friend! Food was the only thing that I felt was a constant in my life. No matter what else was going on around me, I knew that when things were in chaos or in doubt, food would be there. While I used food as a crutch, the health of my mental and physical self took a backseat.

Problems and issues that would have been bet-ter dealt with upfront, were pushed down, and bottled up by my abuse of food. As I gained pound after pound, I would cry myself to sleep wondering what was wrong with me. I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t (or wouldn’t) stop the binge eating.

I began to isolate myself from my friends, choosing to sit in and eat when I should have been living my life.

When I found the Hungry Heart Program, I

knew that it was the place for me. Learning how to break out of the chains of food and dieting which had bound me for several de-cades. Had I known about this program a lot earlier it could have saved me much heart-ache. I learned how to approach food as just food. I no longer eat when I’m stressed, tired, or bored. I’ve lost my excess weight natu-rally and have joined the land of the living. I love my life and feel good about who I am. Food no longer rules my every thought or beats down on my self esteem. It is just food. I now spend time at the beach and feel com-fortable. My weekends are taken up enjoying fun activities with friends. I truly do enjoy ex-ercising regularly and take care of myself the way I’ve always known I should. I am a healthy, happy, and more confident person. I live my life the way I always dreamed of. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hershey Felder takes audiences on a fascinating journey as he brings the composer of West Side Story, Candide, Mass and more to life.

Marcy Playground hits the Coach House stage on Saturday, January 29th along with opening bands Beyond Conception, Hallowell and Hobs Row.

The group broke into the U.S. music scene in 1997 with megahit “Sex and Candy,” which spent 15 weeks at number one on the Billboard charts and drove the self-titled debut album to sales of 1.7 million copies. Subsequent Marcy Playground releases include Marcy Playground 3 (MP3), Shapeshifter and Leaving Wonderland...In a Fit of Rage.

Marcy Playground’s most recent project is a digital collection of remixes from the band’s 2009 critically-acclaimed album Leaving Wonderland...In a Fit of Rage. The band offered fans the opportunity to put their own stamp on their songs by remixing them and then submitting them to top online music destination for music creation, Indaba Music. The band selected their favorites from hundreds of submission and compiled them to complete the special release CD.

Marcy Playground frontman John Wozniak commented on the idea behind Indaba Remixes from Wonderland: “I wanted to make this record to show people what the online music community is capable of. or early risers, there’s no better way to start off a Sunday than to have a big beautiful breakfast, but if sleeping in is your idea of starting the day off right, then brunch is your meal. Riptide

Rockin’ Sushi has put together some new twists on brunch that will have you coming back for more (and more).

Located in Kaleidoscope Center and convenient from any South OC locale, Riptide is serving up their “Champagne & Punch Family Brunch” every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You’ve never seen so many options before noon. The Eggs Benedict, Applewood smoked bacon, house-made corned beef hash and biscuits & gravy are all go-to favorites. Make a stop at the omelet bar for eggs your way, or to customize some pancakes, French toast, or Belgian waffles to fit your mood.

Carnivores will be immediately drawn to the prime rib carving station where the perfectly roasted beef is sliced to your liking and served with horseradish and au jus. The tasty chicken enchiladas were also a hit at our table.

From here the buffet goes a whole other direction with an entire section devoted to the sushi and cut rolls that Riptide is famous for. My favorite were tiger shrimp lettuce wraps – a soft leaf of Bibb lettuce wrapped around sushi rice, tempura shrimp and other goodies. Don’t forget to sample the spicy tuna on crisp wonton chips - yum!

Riptide takes good care of the youngsters in the crowd with pizza slices, mini-corndogs, tater tots and their famous PB&J pizza. To entertain the little tykes while they enjoy their meal, the amazing “balloon engineer” and his mesmerizing creations will do just the trick!

As the name implies, brunch includes champagne (or fruit punch for the kids). Enjoy the bubbly, but definitely save room for the chocolate fondue with marshmallows and picture-perfect strawberries for dipping!
