Do Lord, oh, do Lord, oh, do remember me.

Do Lord, oh, do Lord, oh, do remember me

Verse 2 - I took Jesus as my Savior, you take Him too.

Confession of Sins

Pastor: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy

Spirit. In Christ’s dying and rising, we are reborn; we are

no longer dead in our sin. Let us return to the shepherd and

guardian of our souls, confessing our sin.

People: Almighty God, we confess to You our preference for

things that pass away, our silence in the face of

injustice, our reluctance to accept the freedom of

forgiveness. Make us whole again; renew is us the grace

of baptism; and set our minds on the things that are

above.

Pastor: Everyone who believes in Jesus receives forgiveness of sins

through His name. God, Who loves you dearly, forgives

you all your sin, raises you to new life in Jesus Christ, and

renews you by the power of the Holy Spirit.

People: Amen.

Prayer of the Day

C: God of all power, You called from death our Lord Jesus, the

great shepherd of the sheep. Send us as shepherds to rescue the

lost, to heal the injured, and to feed one another with knowledge

and understanding; through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,

Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now

and forever. Amen.

Little Lambs/PreK/K children “Love the Lord Your God”

Congregation join in singing the third time:

Love the Lord Your God

Verse 3 - Love the Lord your God will all your heart

With all your soul, and with all your mind

Love the Lord your God with all your heart

With all your soul and with all your mind

Chorus - With your heart, soul, and mind

With your heart, soul, and mind

Love the Lord your God

(REPEAT CHORUS)

First Reading – Acts 13:15-16, 26-33 – Blake Schultz

R: 16 Standing up, Paul motioned with his hand and said: “Fellow Israelites

and you Gentiles who worship God, listen to me! 26 “Fellow children of

Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of

salvation has been sent. 27 The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not

recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the

prophets that are read every Sabbath. 28 Though they found no proper

ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. 29 When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him

down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from

the dead, 31 and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with

him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people. 32 “We tell you the good news: What God promised our ancestors 33 he has

fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the

second Psalm: “‘You are my son; today I have become your father.’

Psalm 23 (read responsively) – Sira Christians

R: 1 The LORD is my shepherd,

I lack nothing.

C: 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

R: 3 he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

C: 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

R: 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

C: 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my

life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Second Reading – Revelation 7:9-17 – Caden Schultz and Mason

Ellingson

R: 9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no

one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing

before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes

and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a

loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to

the Lamb.” 11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around

the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces

before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying: “Amen! Praise and glory

and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God

for ever and ever. Amen!” 13 Then one of the elders asked me, “These in

white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?” 14 I

answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come

out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them

white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore, “they are before the throne of

Second Reading (Continued)

God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the

throne will shelter them with his presence. 16 ‘Never again will they

hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’

nor any scorching heat. 17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be

their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God

will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”

Gospel – John 10:22-30 – Ronnelle Hasse

P: 22 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will

you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus

answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my

Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are

not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they

follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one

will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,

is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I

and the Father are one.”

Message “In the Wild”

Apostles Creed

C: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and

earth

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was

conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the

Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,

died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day

he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the

right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living

and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the

communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection

of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Offering Song “Jesus Loves Me”- tone chimes

Prayers of the Church

After each portion of the prayers:

P: Lord, in Your mercy,

C: Hear our prayer.

Lord’s Prayer

C: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy

kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give

us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we

forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into

temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Benediction

American Lutheran Church Growing Young Assessment

Our church can grow young, too. And it’s not about changing our mission

or our deepest hope for our congregation. In fact, when we start growing

young, we may likely find our church becoming what we’ve always

dreamed it could be.

When we grow young, our church will:

• Challenge young people (in fact, all people) with Jesus’ message in

ways that inspire them

• Develop younger leaders intentionally through natural leadership

opportunities

• Fuel an atmosphere of warmth where everyone feels welcome

• Become a better neighbor to those in our community

“That sounds great, but where do we begin?”

The most effective kind of leadership starts by choosing to recognize

reality. Before deciding where our church will go in the future, we need to

focus on understanding exactly where we are now.

So be a part of this endeavor by taking the Growing Young

Assessment! When you take this assessment, you will help our church

create an understanding of our unique culture. You will help shed light on

how well we are currently positioned to engage young people.

All you need to do is follow this link to complete the survey between

April 14 and May 4th. It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to

complete and will provide valuable information to our congregation.

YOUR PARTICIPATION IS IMPORTANT! We invite all attendees of

American Lutheran Church ages 14 and up to participate!

Page 15: The Fourth Sunday of Easter - americanlutheranchurch.orgamericanlutheranchurch.org/alc/wp-content/uploads/... · The Fourth Sunday of Easter Sunday School Worship ... Ronelle Hasse-piano

To complete the assessment, every individual will need to have an email

address. If you currently share an email address with another person who

will complete the assessment, or you do not have an email address, please

contact Kari Christians or sign up for a time to complete the assessment at

church.

Take this assessment at

www.oursurvey.church/AmericanLutheranChurchLongPrairie

If you are currently receiving our newsletter by email, you have been sent

an email with this link.

Don’t have access to a computer, smart phone or tablet? We can help!

Please call the church office @732-2932 and ask for Kari.

Thank you so much for your participation in this assessment. Your input

will help in raising up the next generation here at American Lutheran

Church.

Thank you!

The Word of God and the Shaping of America

LIFE AND IMMORTALITY

HOPE – “…shone in our hearts to give the light…” 2 Corinthians 4:6

John McLean (1785-1861), a U.S. Postmaster General and Justice of the

U.S. Supreme Court, wrote: no one can estimate or

describe the salutary influence of the Bible. What

would the world be without it? Compare the dark

places of the earth, where the light of the Gospel has

not penetrated, with those where it has been

proclaimed and embraced in all its purity. Life and

immortality are brought to light by the Scriptures.

Aside from Revelation, darkness rests upon the

world and upon the future. There is no ray of light

to shine upon our pathway, there is no star of hope.

We begin our speculation as to our destiny in conjecture, and they end in

uncertainty. We know not that there is a God, a heaven, or a hell, or any

day of general account, when the wicked and the righteous shall be

judged. The Bible has shed a glorious light upon the world. It shows us

that in the coming day we must answer for the deeds done in the body. It

has opened us to a new and living way, so plainly marked out that no one

can mistake it. The price paid for our redemption shows the value of our

immortal souls.
