PRAYER OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY (In Unison)
Dear Jesus, we come to you today thankful for the many ways you rescue and redirect us. Forgive us, Lord, when we attempt to control and place limits on your love and your power. May we see you in others as we live, pray, and love in Your name, the name above all names.

Announcements for September 30, 2018
GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP
Learning to live again after the death of a loved one or friend is oftentimes very difficult. We all grieve in different ways: some focus primarily on the emotions, others try to avoid grief altogether, and some want to read their way through it. Leanne Walgren and Pastor Lynne hope to walk with you as you travel through your grief. We want to join you on the path to healing by offering a grief support group beginning Sunday, October 7 from 11:45-12:45 in the Fireside Room North. We will meet for six weeks on the following dates: October 7, 14, 21, & 28, November 11 & 18. We plan on using a compassionate resource called Traveling Through Grief: Learning to Live Again After the Death of a Loved One as a guide to help you find your road to recovery. If you do not already have a copy of this book, copies will be available free of charge on the first day we gather. If you have any questions please call the church office at (623) 935-3411 or speak with Leanne or Pastor Lynne.
EMPOWERED WOMEN ARE RIVETING:
A ONE DAY GATHERING FOR WOMEN
Registration for the October 20, W.C.S.F. One Day Gathering For Women, continues through Sunday, October 14, after each service in the breezeway. There is a $25.00 registration fee, which includes a number of sessions with the Rev. Dr. Karoline M. Lewis, catered lunch and childcare. The Saturday gathering will be from 9:00 a.m.-
3:00 p.m. in Souers Hall. For more information, please contact the church office (623) 935-3411 or e-mail at [email protected].

ADULT BIBLE STUDY
Adult Bible study continues this Tuesday, October 2, at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday, October 3, at 6:30 p.m. in Souers Hall. We will conclude our study on the importance of studying the scriptures/text in context by focusing on the literary lens. Please read Judges 6-8 prior to our time together if possible. Bible study will not be offered Tuesday, October 9, and Wednesday, October 10, because of Fall break. After Fall break we will spend several weeks learning about Paul’s missionary journeys and the beginning of the Christian church in Pisidia Antioch, Colossae, Laodicea, Sardis, Pergamum, Philadelphia, Smyrna, Thyatira, and Ephesus. As always, it will be helpful to bring a Bible and something to write with if you are able to.
SUNDAY SCHOOL OPPORTUNITY
We are in need of some help for our Sunday School classrooms (K-2nd graders; 3rd-5th graders) during both the 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. services. Pastor Kerri delivers the message in Souers Hall to begin each class. Then, teachers walk the children to the classrooms where activities are set up and ready to go. There are youth to assist teachers as well. It is minimal work and maximum blessing! Please consider this imperative ministry to our children. If you would like to help, please contact Pastor Kerri.
YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
All 6th-12th graders are welcome to come and enjoy a time of music, study, and fellowship tonight in Souers Hall.
Youth praise band (grades 6th-12th) meets from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
Ignite (grades 6th-8th) meets from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Pulse (grades 9th-12th) meets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Our youth focus is James: The Strength of the Selfie. Go to the youth page at www.clp.church to subscribe to our live youth page.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR
HALLO-PALOOZA
Hallo-palooza will take place on Wednesday, October 31, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the church’s parking lot. We need YOU! Bring your car, some candy, and your favorite Halloween décor. When you arrive, you will receive a parking space. Then, set up your lawn chair, open your trunk (and candy bags), and wait for kids to walk through and trick-or-treat in a safe place. For those who would like
to decorate the trunk, there will be a decorating contest. There will be plenty of frightening sights for the kids. Please sign up in the breezeway.
MEN’S FELLOWSHIP
Men’s Fellowship will be meeting at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6th, in Souers Hall. The purpose of Men’s Fellowship is to grow closer to God and closer to each other so that we may be used to do God’s will. We strive to make Men’s Fellowship relevant to men’s interests by having engaging discussions and planning meaningful activities. At this month’s meeting we will be discussing plans and activities for the coming year. So that we may provide adequate food, we are asking that you sign up in the breezeway between services. We hope to see you there.
W.C.S.F. THRIFT SHOP
The Women’s Christian Service Fellowship (W.C.S.F) Thrift Shop will be open for business on Saturday, October 6, from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., with a donation day on Friday, October 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please feel free to contact Amber Gilbert, Amanda Clough, or Jennifer Scott at [email protected] or call the church at (623) 935-3411 if you have questions or need to make donation arrangements.
