    Evangelization Corner ~Kristin Molitor

Dear Friends, The month of November is dedicated to the Holy Souls in Purgatory whose feast we will celebrate on November 2nd. This month is a graced time to pray for those who have gone before us. It’s important for us to remember that the Mystical Body of Christ extends beyond life and death. All who are baptized into Christ form one communion and are united to one another. This means that all of the souls in purgatory (known and unknown) are our brothers and sisters in Christ and are in need of our prayers. There are many traditional prayers for the dead, but if your are looking for a unique prayer to pray this month, try the Chaplet of the Holy Souls that I’ve included below. This Chaplet uses rosary beads as a guide for the prayers. How to Pray the Chaplet of the Holy Souls After making the sign of the cross while holding the crucifix of the rosary, say the Apostles’ Creed.

On the first large bead, pray the Our Father.

Pray three Hail Marys on the following three beads.

At the next large bead, pray the Glory Be.

On the large beads before each decade pray the following prayer. O holy Souls Draw the fire of God’s love into my soul, To reveal Jesus Crucified in me here on earth, Rather than hereafter in Purgatory.

Then on the small beads pray this prayer. Crucified Lord Jesus, Have mercy on the souls in Purgatory.

At the conclusion of the chaplet, pray 3 Glory Be prayers.

“As we enter Heaven we will see them, so many of them coming towards us and thanking us. We will ask who they are, and they will say a poor soul you prayed for in Purgatory.” ~Archbishop Fulton Sheen

    Online Mass: www.stcdio.org/tvmass

Let us take a few moments in silence to pray with the saints. We praise you, O God, and we honor all your holy ones. We ask the help of those men, women, and children who struggled against evil and stood firm, who loved one another, who worked for justice and peace, who healed the sick and fed the hungry. We on Earth and they in heaven sing one song of praise. We in grace and they in glory form one communion in Christ, your Son. Make us and all those we love worthy to be called your saints. We ask this through Christ or Lord. Amen. ~ Blessings and Prayers through the Year

Is my Bible Catholic? These are the things I look for on the first pages of a Bible that says ‘yes’ this is a Catholic Bible and the one to use for GIFFT Night this year. 1. Is the word “Catholic” in any of the descriptions? 2. Nihil Obstat is a Latin word meaning: nothing hinders, nothing

stands in the way, a declaration that nothing is contrary to the Roman Catholic Doctrine, Faith or Morals. It is usually followed by a Bishop’s name.

    3. Impramatur is another Latin word that means license or ap-proval to print this book. This is usually also followed with a Bishop’s name.

    4. If this bible contains the Apocryphal books. The Catholic Bible has 46 books in the Old Testament. 7 books more that the Protestant non-Catholic Bible which contains only 39 books. The New Testament or last half after Jesus came are the same number in both bibles. ~Fr. Gregory
