IntroductionBeyond Zero was launched in January 2014, as a flagship programme to save lives of mother and children in Kenya. Beyond Zero complements national efforts by accelerating policy and programme implementation and further, by influencing investments for strategic, high impact interventions towards zero new HIV infections and zero maternal and child deaths.
It seeks to leverage on the convening power of the First lady by mobilising partners to spearhead amongst other things: greater community and household sensitisation on adoption of preventive health practices/behaviours; to support existing health and community systems as well as catalysing innovation and accelerated action by stakeholders and political leaders to ensure that all Kenyans adopt a healthy life style.
Since 2014, Beyond Zero, has offered door to door health services through fifty-two fully kitted mobile clinics and promoted health education across all counties. We continue to build on existing public health programs such immunization against early childhood diseases, distribution of insecticide treated nets, and exclusive breastfeeding.
Earlier this year, Beyond Zero launched the 2nd Strategic Framework for the Promotion of Healthy Lives and Well-Being of Women, Children and Adolescents (2018-2022).
This new Framework focuses on neglected health challenges including adolescent health, repair and reintegration of women living with obstetric fistulae and social inclusion of children living with disability. In addition, we are focusing on increasing the engagement of men in reproductive health for their own benefit and that of their families.
The newly rebranded, Beyond Zero Half Marathon is the anchor fundraising platform for the second Strategic Framework. Now in the marathons fourth year it will be:
• An opportunity for corporates, members of the public, individually or as group (s) to consciously run for the causes they choose
• A platform where all participants are actively included in the implementation of Beyond Zero’s Strategic Frameworks’ - nine intervention area

The Beyond Zero Marathon provides an interactive platform where all participants are actively included in the implementation of Beyond Zero strategic framework – nine intervention areas.
Promote access to quality of maternal and neonatal health care services
Promotion of good nutrition for all children
Influence investments for decentralized services for breast and cervical cancer prevention, treatment and management
Advocate for repair and reintegration of women living with obstetric fistulae
Advocate for social inclusion of children living with disability for equal access to health and education services
Mobilise for the engagement of men in HIV and reproductive health
Champion the country validation for the pre-elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV and syphilis by 2021
Mobilise partnerships to deliver adolescent and young people health programmes
Advocate for access to comprehensive health care and social protection
Beyond Zero adopted a campaign style to create momentum, mobilize leadership and commitment towards achieving results in HIV, Maternal, Newborn and Child health.
