A Just Future Starts with Education Ditosa is a young girl from Mozambique who hopes to go to university and become a police officer. Featured in Project Compassion 2013, Di-tosa faced a challenging future with food scarcity, little education and few job prospects. Cared for by her grandmother and aunt, after her parents died of AIDS-related illnesses, they also lost their home and livelihoods in severe flooding.

Thanks to the support of Project Compassion, Caritas Australia and Cari-tas Regional Chokwe (CRC) helped Ditosa’s family to build a new house and assisted with transport fees, school materials and fees, to help Ditosa to stay at school.

Ditosa attended the Matuba Children’s Centre (set up by Caritas in 2007) which provides vulnerable children, like Ditosa, with lunch, study help, and computer and income-generating skills training.

In 2018, Ditosa has graduated from school and is ambitious for the future. “Without the support of the people from Australia and Caritas I would not have been given this opportunity to continue my schooling.”

Ditosa dreams of going to university to continue studying and secure an even brighter future.

For a Just Future “We can only build the future by standing together, including everyone.”

Bring and Buy Stall ~ Homemade, Handmade, Home grown ~

Last Sunday of each month after each Mass

How does it work? Just bring along anything you have made - could be food or craft - or grown. Donate it to the stall before Mass.

After Mass the stall will be open, and people will be encouraged to buy! All proceeds to the Parish.

Anything leftover at the end of 10am Mass (except perishable food) will be stored to sell the following month.

Just remember... If you are bringing food of any kind – cakes, jams, chutneys etc, they must be labelled with all ingredients used,

the date they were made, and the name of who made it. It would be helpful if you could please price what you donate

(although there will be someone at the stall who can help you).

Those running the stall have the discretion to lower prices, if need be, in order to sell goods!

Dates for 2018 24/25 Feb, 24/25 March, 28/29 April, 26/27 May, 23/24 June, 28/29 July, 25/26 Aug, 29/30 Sept, 27/28 Oct, 24/25 Nov

Next Weekend At All Masses Thankyou to those who have volunteered to be on the stall -

6pm Barbara Hunt & Carolyn Gascoigne,

8am Jo & Chris Mitchell,

10am Helen Grech & Gui Hone.

We need more volunteers for the rest of the year!

Please contact Lys Crowe or Maree Taverna if you can help.

More of what’s happening here….

PAGE 4 SEASONS FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT, YEAR B

Lenten Film and Discussion Nights We will show two films during Lent that you are invited to come along to.

The first – ‘The Innocents’ Rated M, will be on Tuesday 20th March at 7:30pm in the Church.

It is the haunting rendition of a real-life story, adapted from the diaries of a French Red Cross doc-

tor, who was drafted to Warsaw in the aftermath of the Second World War. One day, while at-

tending to her military patients in the makeshift hospital there, she is beckoned outside into the

snow by a Benedictine nun, who desperately pleads with her to help one of her fellow sisters. The

young, atheist doctor reluctantly agrees and, upon arriving at the convent, is confronted by a shock-

ing discovery: said sister is in labour, while several other nuns are also pregnant, the victims of a

hideous cruelty. As the story unfolds, the doctor, and the nuns she secretly tends to, must learn to

trust each other, overcoming the boundaries of language and faith, in what proves a hard-to-watch but deeply

moving tale of female solidarity, with some shocking twists and turns.

The second – ‘As It Is In Heaven’ Rated M, will be on Tuesday 27th March at 7:30pm.

This is the story of a successful international conductor who suddenly interrupts his career and

returns alone to his childhood village in Norrland, in the far north of Sweden. It doesn’t take

long before he is asked to come and listen to the fragment of a church choir which practices

every Thursday in the Parish Hall, just to come along and give a little bit of good advice. He

can’t say no, and from that moment nothing in the village is the same again. The choir develops

and grows. He makes both friends and enemies. And he finds love.

Contemplative Prayer “Let tiny drops of silence fall gently through your day”

Silent prayer in the Church each Wednesday from 8:30 am to 9:15 am, followed by Mass.
