What’s Happening Here...

Have You Walked The Camino? Later in the year, as part of the Parish

Pastoral Plan to hold Spirituality Nights

throughout the year, we are planning

to have a night where those parishion-

ers who have walked the Camino

could share and reflect on their experi-

ences of pilgrimage and journey with

the whole Parish.

If you are one of these people, could you please con-

tact Ange Virgona - email [email protected]

or phone 0407 535 704 so that this group of people

can get together and share and plan!

Thankyou in anticipation.

STM Open Gardens Proposal: to organise an Open Garden

Weekend in Autumn 2018.

Purpose: to raise funds for our parish.

This is just an idea at the moment. Be-

fore we proceed, we need to establish

the availability of suitable “autumn” gar-

dens. We would need to have three or

four gardens available over one weekend in autumn

next year, date yet to be decided.

Would you be prepared to open your garden to the

public, or have a family member or neighbour willing

to do so? It is anticipated that a team of parish volun-

teers would be present at each location to attend to

the various roles required to run the day.

For further enquiries or expressions of interest, please

contact me via email or phone: mareetaver-

[email protected] or 0425 721 207.

Nametags: The Parish Pastoral Leadership Team

invites you to wear a nametag to Mass! This is just one

way of us getting to know each other better. You can

BYO, or we will have some stick-on ones available

each week.

Monday 21st August - The next gathering of the Po-

etry Group will be hosted by Keith Donovan at

1.30pm in the Parish Community Centre. All most

welcome to come along.

Thursday, 24th August - Mornington Golf Club

Lunch, at 12.30pm. Enquiries to Grevis on 0414 527

172 or to Colleen on 9787 2479.

Tuesday, 29th August - Committee Meeting in the

Parish Community Centre at 10am.

Wednesday, 13th September - A visit to the Morn-

ington Art Gallery, Dunns Road at 11am to view the

work of Constance Stokes, followed by lunch at Stee-

ples at 12.30pm (lunch only will be fine). Please book

and pay $10 deposit at the Monthly Meeting. Enquir-

ies to Grevis or Colleen.

The Welfare Officers for August are Margo Munro

and Carolyn Gascoigne.

STM Social Club Fun & Friendship For All

Sunday Movies The Social Club issues an open invita-

tion to anyone in the parish who

would like to join them to see Sunday

movies at Mornington Cinema adver-

tised in Seasons. We usually meet at the Mornington

Cinema about half an hour before the start and often

go for coffee after.

This week’s movie is Hampstead starring Diane Kea-

ton @ 2.15pm

Contact Fiona on 5976 7064 or 0420 764 234.

Baptism Welcomes This weekend we have the Rite of Welcome at the 8am Mass for Alexander Hollier (Parents –

Matthew & Rachel).

Congratulations and Welcome to Maximillian and Henry Reid (Parents – Philip and Elizabeth)

who will both be baptised after the 10am Mass on Sunday.

Wall of Remembrance Bronze plaques are available for

the Wall of Remembrance,

please contact Irene in the of-

fice for an order form, or to

make an appointment to come

in and prepare a draft.

Plaques usually cost around $235, depending on the

wording, and images (if any).

If you haven’t already reserved/purchased a brick - to

which the plaque will be fixed - this will need to be

arranged at the same time, at a cost of $120.

What’s Happening

PAGE 4 SEASONS TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR A

Baptisms These are held on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month at 11:15 am or at any of

the Parish Masses on the 2nd, 4th or 5th Sundays.

A compulsory preparation night for parents takes place on the first Tuesday of

each month in the Parish Community Centre at 7:30 pm. Children to be baptised,

and their families, are then invited to a Welcome Mass prior to Baptism where

they are introduced to the Parish Community and welcomed by them. In order for this to happen, preparation

needs to begin at least 4-6 weeks before the Baptism, with a call to confirm parents’ attendance at the Prepara-

tion Night.

When children of school age are to be baptised an extended preparation time is required. It is important to re-

member that Baptism is about the initiation of a child into a community of Faith or a community of Disciples.

There is no such thing as a ‘private’ Baptism... it is something done by the whole Church.
