Volunteer – What That Means

➢ Get to know the coaches and their vision for the club

➢ Find useful parent involvement – make a long-term commitment to the

club

➢ Find out what jobs are available in the club and what is involved in each

➢ Remember that all volunteers are exactly that – unpaid people

Parent Protocol

➢ Speak to your athlete’s coach before or after practice. During practice,

the coaches’ attention is on the swimmers.

➢ Do not micro manage your swimmer at a meet

➢ Do not try to prevent failure – I think failure leads to success

➢ If you have questions during a meet, ask an experienced parent or your

athlete’s coach when the coach is not talking to swimmers

➢ Attitudes are contagious…positive and negative

Parent Protocol Meets

➢ Do not interrupt officials while they are working a meet

➢ Be quiet for the start

➢ No flash photography at the start

➢ Stay out of the area just behind the starting blocks

➢ Never denigrate another swimmer’s performance in the water

➢ No phones/pictures behind blocks or turn end

Locker Room and Changing Room

➢ Pre-Competitive, Red, White and Blue use the changing room

➢ Girls/ladies on left, boys/men on right

➢ Please keep non-swimmers out of changing room

➢ Bronze, Silver and Gold (full-time) use the locker room➢ Need to have a parent (with clearances) patrol the locker room

➢ No use of sauna

➢ Change and meet parents upstairs

➢ No Cell Phones or other recording devices permitted
