Summary of Screening Services Available

Right to Work Screening

Since January 1997, employers have had a duty to check that all new employees are entitled to work in the UK. A civil penalty system for employing illegal workers was introduced in February 2008. REED is able to support your organisation with entitlement to work checks and will visually check documents in accordance with the Home Office guidance on the prevention of illegal working.

Reference Checks

REED will get references to confirm, where possible, previous employer’s name, and candidate’s final position and salary, employment dates, reasons for leaving and eligibility for rehire.

Criminal Record Checks

As a registered umbrella working with the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS), Access Northern Ireland (ANI) and Disclosure Scotland Service (DSS), REED delivers a professional and tailored criminal record checking service ensuring that your employees are appropriately police checked.

Credit Checks

The report contains County Court Judgement’s (CCJ’s), bankruptcies, defaults and other pertinent information to determine the applicant’s responsibility level. We are also able to provide international credit history checks for your overseas employees.

CIFAS Checks

As a long standing member of CIFAS, we have access to and can share information with other CIFAS members about identified frauds in the fight to prevent further fraud. REED will check employee details against the Fraud Prevention Database.

Directors Checks

A directorship report will reveal any current or potential conflicts of interest between the applicant and the organisation.

Professional and Education Verification

Statistics reveal that qualifications are one of the things that applicants falsify most when completing employment applications. Education verification confirms the applicant attended the institution they claim to have attended. Professional and trade memberships are also confirmed.
