I founded Roc Search from my Reading home in 2007, when I was 28.

I’d already enjoyed success in global IT recruitment, and as a highly successful new business consultant had grown the most profitable contract business on record. I wanted to take the next step, to create a consultancy based on the key principles I’ve always believed in: honesty, integrity and communication. This was how Roc Search came into existence.

Since then we’ve grown from one person to more than 70, with our HQ based in Reading, plus offices in London, Birmingham and Frankfurt, Germany. We plan to open our first US office in early 2014.

The business has gone from strength to strength; we’re on track to turn over £20 million in 2014, and our success is driven by the quality of our people. Everybody makes a difference, from consultants to managers, finance to administrators, and the marketing team to business development managers. We all contribute because we all want the same thing. We all enjoy what Roc Search represents: an environment as transparent as it is fun to work in, an atmosphere which is motivational and aspirational, an ethos which remains unchanged as our business continues to grow.

THE COMPANY

Urban Science is a business solutions company focused on supporting the needs of the sales and marketing function of the automotive industry. We leverage a scientific methodology to help our client partners sell more vehicles, improve profitability and increase customer loyalty. And we do that by helping solve their toughest challenges including planning an optimal dealership network, improving individual dealer performance, and efficiently converting sales leads into sales. In short, we guide business through science – and we’ve been doing this since 1977. Today we have a team of more than 850 employees across 19 global offices.

THE CHALLENGE

We were seeking two permanent roles: a hosting specialist and an infrastructure specialist. Historically, the challenges we face are the timescales of the processes. Because our HQ is in Detroit and there is a significant time difference, the process of recruiting new employees can often be lengthy.

THE SOLUTION

It was vital from the start that Roc Search really understood how it can often take us two weeks to get feedback on candidates. At the initial interviews Roc Search were clear and concise with candidates, and managed their expectations throughout the process. It was essential that any recruitment company we worked with understood our processes and culture, and right from the early CVs and communication we had with Roc Search it was clear that they realised this.

THE COMPANY

European Electronique is a leading technology company with over 20 years’ experience in delivering ICT solutions, and with a reputation for innovation and excellence.

THE CHALLENGE

We recruit highly experienced infrastructure engineers for implementation project works which are often under very tight time constraints. Our second big challenge is sourcing experienced individuals with the correct skill sets who have the flexibility to work all over the UK.

THE SOLUTION

We have worked with Roc Search for over five years now. I have worked with other agencies and consultancies in the past, however I have always found Roc Search delivers by putting forward suitable candidates first time. They always work within our often tight time constraints, working late and weekends if necessary. There is always somebody for me to contact – they are available 24/7 if need be.

THE CHALLENGE

We have many short- and long-term vacancies for project managers, programme managers and Cisco engineers. We often have short-notice requirements and need candidates very quickly.

THE SOLUTION

The relationship with Roc Search began back in July 2008, when a number of contract roles were sent to preferred supplier list (PSL) companies and some select agencies. Roc Search proved to be responsive from the outset so I sponsored

them to go onto the PSL. I often have short-notice requirements and can rely on them to react immediately and dedicate a team to finding the right candidates for me within a couple of days. They work late into the evenings and through weekends to fill vacancies, which means I can focus on my day job and my customers with peace of mind, knowing that Conor and his team are ‘on the case’.

Pearson Shared Services is the world’s largest publishing and education company.

THE CHALLENGE

Pearson has been going through a global IT restructure which meant over 40 roles needed to be recruited for across a variety of technologies. Roc Search has helped considerably with this and continues to do so.

I have to say that of the 10+ agencies I deal with to help assist with recruitment, Roc Search stands out as our best provider. They only send relevant candidates and have a better understanding of our business. I work with the London Permanent Team who have filled more of our vacancies than any of the other recruiters I have been working with.

Engineering plays a vital part in most of the technologies we rely on every day and has a crucial role to play in delivering growth for the UK.

The UK is currently recognised as a world leader in several sectors; universities, automotive, renewable energy, space, low carbon, aerospace, creative industries, utilities and bioscience. The UK has a powerful SME sector, employing 42% of the total workforce.

THE COMPANY

Maxaura was formed in 1991 to give impartial advice to its clients on all aspects of the design, efficiency and safety of pressure systems. The company grew quickly to be the leading independent specialist in pressure systems management with comprehensive programmes for Pressure Systems Safety Regulations compliance, pressure system design, energy efficiency auditing, breathing air quality testing and Local Exhaust Ventilation compliance.

Since 1982, Pudsey Diamond Engineering has been supplying local authority lighting engineers and contractors throughout the UK with street lighting furniture spares, accessories and hardware to maintain and improve their lighting stock and the environment.
