O U R S C H O O L S Riverdale schools focus first and foremost on the relationship between teacher and student, and the academic disciplines that bring them together. Riverdale provides an exceptional, academically rigorous and comprehensive program. Riverdale is fortunate to have a parent body that are involved and care deeply about education.

Riverdale Grade School

Riverdale Grade School offers a program for students in preschool through grade eight. Its engaged faculty, experiential learning, integrated arts and friendly students create an exciting energetic place where students are challenged intellectually and welcomed for who they are. The faculty includes specialists in music, second languages, physical education, library/media, art and special education student services. Students enjoy a diverse selection of enrichment programs. Beginning in fourth grade, students participate in a series of off-campus experiences, ranging from living-history overnighters, to weeklong geological studies at the foot of an active volcano, to the capstone Field Study -- four plays in four days at the Ashland Shakespeare Festival. Taken in addition to our regular schedule of field trips at all ages, the Field Studies program is an integral part of exposing children to the broader context.

Riverdale High School

Riverdale High School, which opened in September 1996, has grown to a student body in the mid-200’s, while maintaining a low student-teacher ratio to maximize individual attention. Riverdale has a 100% graduation rate with 96% of its students admitted to college. Over half of Riverdale High School’s student body comes from outside of the district. Riverdale High School offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum with an intimate and collaborative approach focused on individualized education. At Riverdale intellectual inquiry is active, learning is interactive, the disciplines are interrelated, and analysis and creativity thrive simultaneously. Honors program, electives and enrichment opportunities offer students growth. The commitment to civics-rich curricula and requirement that students complete 90 hours of service during their high school years, gives them the confidence to face the rest of their future knowing what needs to be done in the world and how they might contribute.

Riverdale develops inquisitive, imaginative, and eager learners. Our students demonstrate academic mastery through exhibitions to become effective

communicators and responsible leaders.
