About  us

Uplifting Australia was founded in May 2011. We are a not-for-profit harm prevention charity. Wellbeing and resilience are a powerful force in a child’s development and learning. Our programs build self-esteem, mindfulness, self-regulation and resilience in children. We work with child and parent together in our programs, increasing parent-child connections and establishing healthy emotional patterns that set children up for life and learning. We are focused on building relationship skills and strong family environments rather than fixing chronic problems. Our programs are for all families in all demographics. We understand that early intervention and prevention is the key to creating a culture where family stands for the formulation of positive values, ethics, attitudes and behaviours. Our programs are evidence-based and evaluated using our results based accountability framework.

• CampOut with Kids’ medium-term outcomes are evaluated independently • CampOut with Kids is recommended by Kids Matters. • CampOut with Kids Teacher Training is a BOSTES Quality Teaching Council endorsed program

(July 2015).

Expert  endorsement

"A major part of the program is the parent education strategies that are taught to the parents who participant in the program… I think the strategies that are outlined in the program and in the booklet are fantastic… These strategies provide an easy to implement approach for parents in effective parenting.”

– Peter Chown, Psychologist Consultant, NSW Centre for the Advancement of Adolescent Health

Honorary Consultant – Department of Adolescent Medicine at Westmead Children’s Hospital, Specialist Consultant in Adolescent Health to the World Health Organisation (WHO),

UNFPA & World Population Foundation.

TESTIMONIALS

Feedback from teachers after attending the CampOut Teacher Training

“The CampOut with Kids program is an explicit and uplifting program that is strengths based. The power of the program is non-judgemental and allows the participants to go on their own journey. I look forward to delivering the program and endeavour to play a role in making a difference to the lives of children and parents.”

Mark Taylor, Teacher, Bolwarra Public School

“The CampOut with Kids training has me fully prepared to implement the program in the school. The resources are excellent: comprehensive, clear and easy to follow. It is obvious that much thought, research and consideration has gone into preparing such a valuable and well planned program which will make such a positive change in kids, parents and in school culture.”

Ben Cornish, Assistant Principal, Tomaree Public School

“Thank you for such a practical, engaging, worthwhile training day. Having the opportunity to work with parents and students together within the school setting, in such a positive environment, is exciting, while at the same time so important. The simplicity of the program makes it so easy to implement. Thanks.”

Debbie Healey, Assistant Principal, Ashtonfield Public School

“The program was engaging and interesting. I think my school would really enjoy and benefit from this program. I also think a lot of students in my classroom would benefit greatly from this program. Thank you for a great day of new learning experiences I can take back to my school. Thanks.”

Alexzanna Budge, Teacher, Taree West Public

“From the first moment I felt excitement, that grew as the day went on. Excitement about the possibilities for our community when living with and growing up with the 8 parenting strategies and using the strength based principals.”

Alan Sercombe, SLSO Old Bar Public School

“Great day. Very motivating. All topics were covered well. Works hand in hand with post grad study I’m doing and have done (Grad. Certificate in Destructive Behaviours and Emotional Disturbances and a Masters in Special Education). Thanks!”

Seri Challis, Teacher, Old Bar Public School

“I really think CampOut with Kids could help strengthen parent/child/teacher relationships. It gets kids outside in a relaxed environment with people they love and hopefully look up to. Parents get to see their kids in an objective light in an environment the child is more familiar with than they are, giving the kids an advantage and teachers have an opportunity to present a caring face to the school community.”

Meg Leathart, Principal, Warrumbungle EEC

“Wow! Wow! Wow! What an awesome day of training and I can’t wait to implement this program into our school. I love the way that this program focuses on the emotional domain and student wellbeing.”

Julie Gittoes, Principal, Bald Blair Public School
