Creating Nangreave Road

Demographic viewers: I decided to base my soap trailer on young people aged between 13-18. I wanted the audience to immediately be able to tell what the programme would be about. I have decided to use E4 as the channel it is on because they show very controversial soaps. I wanted mine to be part of that so decided to use E4.

To be sure that the audience knew what channel the programme was on, I made sure that the E4 logo was inserted on both my trailer and billboard. I used the same colours that E4 used whilst creating the logo. I used Photoshop when creating this. I decided to keep with the same design as it is very well known and easy recognisable.

Creating Nangreave

By using two of the characters from my billboard onto my magazine cover, it made it easy to recognise the characters faces. I also made sure that they were stood next to each other and were the centre of the page. I did this to make sure that they were the main focus of both the billboard and magazine.

Stereotypes

•By having moody faces rather than smiling face represents that they are typical moody teenagers. •The teenagers who star in the trailer are around the same age as the audience is targeted at.

Billboard

The girl at the end with the mustard cardigan on shows anger. The way that she is stood with her hands in her pockets shows a very negative attitude and will make the audience think that she isn’t approachable. She also has her shoulders back. This shows that she is very confident and doesn’t necessarily care in what other people think about her.

The boy Alex in the middle has his arms crossed off and is stood straight with his legs slightly open. This shows authority within the group on the billboard. It shows that he is the main guy as everyone is standing as him as the focus. He looks very confident.

Magazine front cover

•The styling of the characters in both the billboard and magazine front cover both show that they are well dressed teenagers. •By having “I’M PREGNANT” on the front of the magazine, you can tell that there are programmes for young people as well as older people. •By having a prize available it attracts the young people in their 20’s. This is because it is a 5 star holiday which can be very appealing and if they believe that is appealing they will think that the magazine is too.

•The extra features on my magazine front cover show that other soaps can contain different narratives. •By having simple makeup on the girls, it can show their real emotions on how they feel. •I have kept the outfits more or less the same throughout my products and soap trailer. I did this so the audience can easily recognise the characters.

Genre

By having smoking and drugs on my soap trailer it shows off the type of audience that they want. It’s clear in the trailer that these young people have issues on smoking and drugs and feel that they need to do it alone or/and in private.

I included different social themes in my soap trailer and presented them on my billboard and magazine front cover.

By having the E4 logo, it is easily recognisable no matter what text appears on it. I have included the relevant text and information to intrigue the audience.
