Information for Parents 1. A Letter with the Assessment Schedule would be

issued at least 2 weeks before the Formal Assessment.

2. The Test schedule & Topics to be tested would be made available online at least 2 weeks before the test.

3. Subject Teachers would give all students relevant information pertaining to the assessment early.

IT Lessons for Sec 1 and 2s

• For D&T, all Sec 2 students will design a Prototype in preparation for participation in the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors Award (Student Section).

• During Music and Art lessons, students to work on projects that focus on creative and inventive thinking.

• Students will be equipped with knowledge on Creative Problem Solving Approach so as to help them in the design thinking process.

• Students will undergo training .

• Each class to attend one session - 3.30 to 5 pm

The University of New South Wales (UNSW),

Educational Assessment Australia, conducts the

ICAS annually in Australia and in over 20 countries in

Asia, Africa, Europe, Pacific countries, and America.

International Competitions and Assessments for

Schools (ICAS) is a suite of competitions designed

specifically for primary and secondary students.

What is it

• The tests assess students’ skills and are relevant to

what they are learning at school.

• ICAS papers are skills-based.

• The test results will help the students and teachers

know where the students are in the subjects.

Awards and Recognition

All students who enter ICAS receive a Certificate. A certificate is

awarded on the following basis for each subject assessed:

High distinction Certificate - The top 1% of entrants in each

year level in each participating state and country.

Distinction Certificate - The next 10% of entrants in each

year level in each participating state and country.

Credit Certificate - The next 25% of entrants in each year

level in each participating state and country.

Participation Certificate - All other students receive a

Participation Certificate.

• Sec 2 is the mid-point in the students’ Secondary

school Educational Journey.

• The UNSW test is an international assessment to

benchmark students.

• The certificates received can be part of the students’

portfolio in their DSA applications to JCs or

applications to Institutions of Higher Learning.
