What is AfLIA?
The African Library and Information Associations and Institutions
It is the “Trusted voice of African Libraries and Librarians.”
Established in 2013 by African Librarians following an African Libraries summit in 2011 in South Africa.
What AfLIA does
Mobilises African Librarians to actively contribute to the African Development Agenda (AU Agenda 2063) “the Africa we want” through services that transform the livelihoods of communities.
Activities of AfLIA
In collaboration with partners;
• Carries out training programs for librarians at various levels and in different library types.
• Carries out research and studies on libraries.
• Advocates for libraries at various fora.
• Supports national library associations.
