InformativeFlier

Description:Promotional flier for a graduate leadership conference inBlack and White.

Course/Instructor:Comm 130Jason Stucki

Process:After receiving the project guidelines I created some sketch-es. Once I decided on a layout, I completed a draft inAdobe InDesign. I used this for my critiquing process withmy peers. After making the adjustments that had beenrecommended for me, I produced this finished project. Mymain focus on this was alignment. I wanted to make a cleanpresentation that had balance and alignment. I used the2/3 approach for the image and title, and then an oppos-ing 2/3 block of text. I also wanted to work in an equal

amount of white space. I then made sure that all aspectshad an alignment partner. The image, text and body copywhere provided for me to work with.

Message:The flyer is designed to speak to recent graduates. It isespecially catchy to those who wish to increase their leader-ship skills, and are actively looking for a way to do this.

Audience:

Recent graduates 22+

EventAd

Description:A color full-bleed event ad to promote an event using onlyMicrosoft Word and a scanner.

Course/Instructor:Comm 130

Jason Stucki

Process:I scanned the tomato image from a seed catalog that I had.I cropped it to be the desired size. then I created shapes toform all the boxes of color around it. I then used text boxesto square off all of the information I wanted on the layout. Ichose the color pallet and made it all work together. I triedto use the alignment as the key for repetition, and left plentyof white space. After I had it all the best I could, I convertedit to a PDF and printed it on my Epson printer.

Message:MY message is fresh food from the garden from heirloomseeds.

Audience:My audience is to the gardener who would, or is alreadyworking at the heirloom level. The age is across the board.

PhotoDesign

Description:Demonstrate good photography and image editing skills.Incorporating color into a poster layout with original photo.

Course/Instructor:Comm 130

Jason Stucki

Process:After considering what kind of a color scheme I wanted totackle, I sat out to look for an image that would fit my pal-let. I used my digital camera to catch a variety of picturesto work with. I sat to work on Photoshop to refine all of thesettings that would highlight the color scheme I was workingwith and show the image in it’s best light. I then when towork on the layout and incorporated the elements of ty-pography, made desired changes suggested to me duringmy critiquing sessions and this is what we came up with. Ireally enjoyed this process.

Message:The message I was trying to send out was fun. I really thinkthat the chickens have a serious air about them, but whocan take a chicken seriously. I also chose a saying thatreally speaks to the value of a woman. I think that if their isanything celebrated about a chicken it would be their fertility.

Audience:Women between the ages 13 and 60

FoldingBrochure

Description: This project was an informational tri fold brochure for Moun-tain Maiden on the healing power of St. Johns Wort.

Course/Instructor:Comm 130

Jason Stucki

Process:Setting up a tri fold in Adobe InDesign, I split my layout intosix sections. I used violet boarders to enclose the picturesand text for repetition and flow. I used photos that showedgreen and yellow foliage to create contrast against the vi-olet. I used similar back ground on both sides for unity. Forthe image of the cup of tea and apothecary goblet I usedAdobe Photoshop to remove the background of the image.

I then ‘placed’ the images into InDesign where I used the‘text wrap’ option. I created the logo in Illustrator using thepen tool and then ran it through the same process as theteacup image to remove the back ground. I then placed itinto InDesign.

Message:The message this brochure conveys is that there is a naturalapproach to healing the body of depression.

Audience:There is no specific age, but one would need to be able toread. It is intended for both genders as well.

WebPage

Description:A web page designed to showcase a personally createdlogo.

Course/Instructor:Comm 130

Jason Stucki

Process:I created this web page using only notepad. After I markedup all my content and inserted my image, I attached a CSSdocument to my HTML. I then used the colors from mylogo as the colors for my web page. I found these colors byopening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. I alsochanged my fonts to Arial and Verdana. I declared somebackup fonts just in case the viewer’s browser didn’t havethese fonts. I also used padding around the logo and text. Icentered some of the text, and styled the list to add a littleto the over all design. I changed the corners on the title tomake it resemble an envelope.

Message:Mountain Maiden is a wilderness centered website.

Audience:Anyone who is interested in rural living.

InspirationalMontage

Description:An inspirational montage made by the blending of two ormore images, and the use of typography.

Course/Instructor:Comm 130

Jason Stucki

Process:I cropped the background image to 8.5×11, and I added thewater color filter over the background. I selected the photoof my children and moved him to the background image, then I added a mask. With black paint and a 100% opaci-ty, soft-edged brush, I painted away the hard image edges.I then lightened the opacity and softened the edges of mychildren, blending the image into the background, so it lookslike they are fading into the scene. I adjusted the image with

the color select tool to highlight the color scheme. I add-ed some type with two contrasting fonts and arranged it tocomplement the images.

Message:We only know our own hearts. God knows everyone.

Audience:My children ages 7-11 where my desired audience. I be-lieve that the actual audience could range from 7- 100+

OrganizationLogo

Description:Logo or an organization

Process:I really enjoyed the process o creating a logo in Illustrator. Ichose a website that I am building called Mountain Maiden(mountainmaiden.org). I tried to consider my audience and

ocus and then went to work with thumbnails. Afer tryingout several different and ideas, I took a vote on which wasthe best. I chose the one I liked best which happened to bethe same one. I refined the typography and ont choices bymaking sure that it complemented the back ground. I tried towork with bold and italicized words to add contrast so theystand out, but in the end realized that the simplicity in thedesign worked best. I then refined my pencil mountain scapein the back ground to complement all the changes in the textthat I had made.

Programs/Tools Used:Adobe Illustrator

Message: Mountain Maiden is about a girl in the mountains.

Audience: Individuals who are attracted to a natural approachto lie, and all that entails
