As past president o the Hall-Perrine Foundation,William P. Whipples amiliarity with the communityand its needs was unmatched. And his commitment tosustaining one o the most giving communities I haveever known should come as no surprise. Thats why heincluded United Way o East Central Iowa in his estateplans.

The more I am able to give, the more that is givento me, said Bill. For me, giving is almost a religiousexperience. I get a eeling o happiness that I have notgotten any other way.

Bill loved both Cedar Rapids and United Way. When

he passed in 2010, his estate plans refected his values. He endowed his annual git to United Way, so he andhis wie, Gayle, would continue giving to the annualcampaign in perpetuity. Each year, the earnings rom theendowment he established provide a contribution at the

Tocqueville Society level ($10,000 or more).

Bill and Gayle were the rst Eastern Iowans to endow anannual campaign git or United Way. In recognition otheir signicant generosity, United Way established theWilliam P. and Gayle S. Whipple Legacy Circle.

This new society honors individuals who endow theirannual leadership git. We invite you to commit to your

community orever and become a William P. and Gayle S.Whipple Legacy Circle member.
