Welcome to 2020 It is my pleasure to welcome back all of our CVPS families and to all new families who have joined us for 2020. It is going to be an exciting year filled with energy and enthusiasm. Meet the Teacher and Welcome BBQ Tomorrow all of our parents are invited to the school for our Meet the Teacher sessions and Welcome BBQ. The purpose of these sessions is to allow you to meet your childs class teacher and see the learning environment, as well as get an understanding of how the classroom is going to work this year. Each session will take place in your childs classroom. To cater for those families with more than one child enrolled at CVPS there will be two repeated sessions. Session 1 will run from 5 – 5:45pm and Session 2 will run from 6:30 – 7:15pm. If your child needs to attend with you then supervision will be provided in the Hall & Library. If you have not already indicated your attendance to this event then please phone the office so that we can know what sessions you will be attending. Student Leadership This year we will continue with our student leadership teams including the Student Representative Council. Last week each class from 3-6 elected one person to be their representative on this team for Semester 1. Our eight Student Councillors will lead this team. Our Student Leadership Team for 2020 consisting of our 8 School Councillors, 8 House Sports Captains, 8 House Vice- Sports Captains and our 11 SRC members will be inducted at a special assembly on Tuesday 11th February at 12 noon. All parents of our student leaders are invited to attend this assembly. Congratulations to the following senior students who have been elected to leadership positions in 2020. Working in close partnership with our parents is very important to our teachers at CVPS. If you would like to discuss an issue or concern with your class teacher it is always best to contact the Front Office to make a suitable time to meet, that way your childs class teacher can find a time to talk to you when they can give you their full attention. Please remember that while our staff are in class or dealing with other matters, they may not be available to answer your questions immediately. The best person to talk with if you have a concern or problem is your childs class teacher. Following that, if you feel your concern has not been resolved or you would like further support then you should contact the Assistant Principal for your childs stage of learning.

Welcome to 2020 It is my pleasure to welcome back all of our CVPS families and to all new families who have joined us for 2020. It is going to be an exciting year filled with energy and enthusiasm. Our current Assistant Principals are: Bron da Roza -Kindergarten, Sandra Huntly -Nott -Years 1 & 2, Steve Armstrong - Years 3 & 4 and Joel Wilson - Years 5 & 6. If after working with these people you still feel that further work is required to resolve the issue then you should contact our Deputy Principal, Will Lindsay or myself. Shout out to Double R Last Thursday evening we posted a call for “help needed” to assist with putting together our newly arrived picnic tables for our playground on our Facebook page. I would like to say a huge thank you to Double R who saw this post and sent over Liam and Lindsay to brave the heat on Friday and help put these tables together. We really appreciate their support, THANK YOU!! It’s great when the Mudgee community support us like this.

Swimming Carnival – Parent helpers needed!! We are looking forward to our annual Swimming Carnival to be held next Monday 10th February at Mudgee Pool. This carnival is for all students in Year 3—6, and those students in Year 2 who are turning 8 this year. A note went home yesterday with all of the details. We are calling for parent helpers to assist for some or all of the day with time keeping. If you are available please return the parent helper note (that went home yesterday) to the office by Thursday this week. Many thanks in anticipation. School Uniform Just a reminder that it is an expectation that each of our students at CVPS is dressed in full school uniform every day. This includes black school shoes each day (except for your child’s sport day) as well as a school hat.

Stage Assemblies Friday 2:30-3:00—Kinder, Year 1 & 2 Wednesday 12:00 –12:40– Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 Classroom Supplies We ask that you please provide your child with the following essential items for 2020. You will see that each child is asked to supply some materials for their own individual use and some materials to donate for use by the class throughout the year as required. It would be greatly appreciated if students could have these materials as soon as possible. Kindergarten: Each individual student will need: an A4 document wallet, a glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), a library bag, sunscreen and a paint shirt. Class supplies: another glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), hand sanitiser and a box of tissues. (These items will be used by the class throughout the year as required). Years 1 & 2: Each individual student will need: coloured pencils, coloured textas, 2x HB lead pencils, a glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), a soft rubber, a pencil case, a library bag, sunscreen and a paint shirt. Class supplies: another glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), hand sanitiser and a box of tissues. (These items will be used by the class throughout the year as required). Years 3—6 Each individual student will need: 2 x HB lead pencils, 2 x red and blue pens, a 30cm ruler with mm markings, a glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), an eraser, scissors, a sharpener, coloured pencils, a pencil case, a library bag and sunscreen (for individual use) Optional Items: dictionary, thesaurus, textas, sharpies, water colour pencils, Mathematics tools (compass, protractor), calculator (Years 5&6 only). Library News This year CVPS is starting scholastic book club. There are 2 issues per term, with books starting from as little as $2. Issue 1 will come home today and must be returned by Friday 21st February. You can either order online through LOOP or send cash and order into the school library. If you need help, please don’t hesitate to come and ask. Mrs Bryant.

Garden Club Want to help out in the school gardens this year? Volunteering for Garden Club will be more flexible and more fun this year! Don’t have much spare time? Prefer not to supervise students? Prefer to help with your own Child’s class? Want to come with a friend? Prefer to potter on your own? Share your gardening skills or learn gardening skills from other volunteers! Junior Basketball

A registration day for the junior girls & junior boys basketball competitions from year 5 to year 10 will be

held on Monday the 10th February at the Mudgee

PCYC from 3-30 to 6pm.

Mudgee District Hockey Association Junior hockey will start in Term 2.

Sessions will be held for Minis (4-7 year olds), Primary and High School age groups on Friday afternoons/early
