On a hot sunny day Captain Christa and Captain Cleannah head down to their local waterways to check on all the safe practices occurring.

“Look Captain Christa, those men are fishing over there!” said Captain Cleannah.

“But that’s a recognised safe swimming spot, I hope those fishermen know that’s very dangerous!” said Captain Christa.

The laws in Australia state you cannot fish in some areas where people can go swimming.

What could you do to help?

Together Captain Cleannah and Captain Christa thought quickly on their feet and raced over to the fishermen’s boat. They explained to the

fishermen that it can be very dangerous fishing where people can swim.

“Because instead of catching a fish, you might catch me!” yelled a swimmer.

“Look Captain Cleannah more criminals! Don’t those people know it is illegal to dump waste in the ocean or feed it to native wildlife.” Said Captain Christa

How could we fix this?

Captain Cleannah approached the waste dumpers with a bin in hand she explained that

“Fishing waste should be placed in bins to avoid wildlife eating it and to keep our waterways clean for animals to live in.”

“Look how clean our waterways will be if we obey fishing laws!” Said the ‘C’ Captains.

The going down of the sun, reminded us of how the ‘C’ Captains saved another day by educating fishermen about the rules of the sea, and how it helped sustain

wildlife and their environment within the sea.
