Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Our Lady of

Loreto Parish PRAYER FOR PARISH SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

Lord God, You love us with an everlasting love, and You choose

us to share Your love with others. We ask that You rekindle in our hearts a new spirit of faith, of prayer

and of reconciliation. Inspire us to search out and find ways of bringing one another closer to You. We pray

for all who form our parish community, that we remain faithful to Your teaching, that we remain steadfast in

our prayer, both personal and communal, that together with You and the Holy Spirit, our parish may be re-

newed and transformed. All this we ask in the name of Jesus and through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Please cut out and pray daily.

CHURCH PEWS FROM MOUNT CARMEL Anyone who wishes a pew should contact the parish office and speak to Lisa or Julie. We will arrange with F&D Construction company, who has been hired to remove articles from the build-ing, for a date and time for you to pick up a pew. You will not be allowed to enter the building because of safety issues. F&D will remove the pew and bring it out of the church for you to pick up.

THANKSGIVING IN A BASKET RAFFLE Our Lady of Mt. Carmel K of C will be having their annual Thanksgiving in a Basket Raffle after all masses the week-end of November 17 & 18. Chances are $1 each and all pro-ceeds go to support the many works of our council. As a re-minder, the basket will contain everything necessary to make an entire Thanksgiving dinner including a gift card with which you can purchase a turkey. The drawing will be held immediately after the 11:30 mass on November 18, and the basket will be available the next day in the parish office.

A LETTER FROM BISHOP McMANUS

“... to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God.”—Micah 6:8 November 8, 2018 My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, In the United States, more than 40 million Americans are living in poverty, including 2.5 million children over the past year. The Catholic Cam-paign for Human Development (CCHD) is our anti-poverty program to help them find hope and a way to a more secure life. Your support of this collection reaches those living on the margins and gives them a hand up, not a hand out. This collection is the primary source of funding for CCHD’s anti-poverty grants and education pro-grams. Twenty-five percent of the collection stays here in our diocese. On October 29, I once again had the privilege of meeting with our parish and community groups who re-ceived 26 local grants from this campaign. It is always in-spiring to me to see how these small seeds grow into fruitful programs to support the dignity of people who find them-selves most often on the margin in our cities and towns. Stable housing is often one of the first steps for someone trying to break out of the cycle of poverty. In Portland, Ore-gon, the cost to rent an apartment or buy a property has in-creased beyond what is possible for low and moderate in-come families. This has created a housing crisis leaving many people unable to find an affordable place to live. But with your support, working families can afford to live in their community and their homes can remain affordable for generations to come. Through homebuyer support provided by CCHD-funded groups, over 330 low and moderate in-come people now have homes and financial stability, bring-ing lasting change to their lives. In addition, your support provides training for people to gain tools for community organizing and opportunities for leaders to bring these is-sues to the public arena. Please help the efforts of CCHD to break the cycle of pov-erty. Fight poverty in Central Massachusetts and across America. Support CCHD on November 17 & 18 and partic-ipate in the Second World Day of the Poor called for by our Holy Father, Pope Francis. For more information about CCHD and the scope of poverty in America, please vis-it www.povertyusa.org. With every prayerful best wish, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Robert J. McManus Bishop of Worcester

Celebrate Advent by Lighting a Candle

The season of Advent begins on the weekend of December 1 & 2. Begin-ning on that weekend, the tradi-tional Advent wreath will be set up in our sanctuary. We invite you and your family to come forward at the beginning of each Mass during Advent to light the candles on the wreath. A sign-up book has been placed on the table in the vestibule of the church to reserve the Mass at which you and your fami-ly would like to come forward. This is a wonderful way for you and your family to participate in this centuries-old Advent tradition.
