Spring Garden Show - 4-H Opportunities The annual Spring Garden Show will be held April 2-3, 2016 at City Park Botanical Gardens. (3 Victory Avenue, 70124). The show will include: an art market, live music, plant and garden product sales, children’s activities and live music.

Orleans Parish 4-H presence will be on Saturday, April 2nd from 8:30am-5:30pm. The cost to attend is only $8/adult and $4/youth ages 5-12 (kids 5 and under are free). Friends of City Park also receive free admission. We would like to see as many 4-H members and families as possible in attendance. See below for a variety of options students have to choose from for participation in the show.

Junior Gardener Container Contest: Youth ages 5-18 are invited to participate in a container contest. Container gardens are popular with those who have limited space to grow plants, as in urban areas. Containers can be any item such as: old rain boots or aluminum cans. Containers should be durable enough to last one year outdoors and total size should not exceed 36”x36”. Contestants should fill container with soil and plant an ornamental or edible plant suitable for Spring. You DO NOT have to plant a seed - you can use a plant. Don’t forget drainage holes! Winners will be judged on originality, creativity, artistic design and usability. Entries are to be dropped at the Botanical Gardens on Friday, April 1 between 8:00am-7:00pm or call your 4-H Agent for pickup by Wednesday, March 30th. Contestants will be allowed free entry to the show.

2. 4-H Helpers: 4-H members will be helping patrons with purchases and loading of their vehicles. This will be as a service to those in attendance with a suggested

donation/tip jar. 4-H members who participate in the container contest can also participate in this option. Helpers who stay for the entire show will be provided with lunch.

3. Family Day Out: Come out for a day of fun in the sun with your family. The Botanical Garden is a wonderful setting for listening to music and viewing a wide variety of

gorgeous plants. You can support the program and have a family day all at the same time!

We look forward to seeing you there!
