Here are the answers:Noun is a single word representing both concrete objects (e.g. people, animals, things, places) and abstract objects (e.g. beauty, intelligence, wisdom, idea). Noun phrase is a noun that appears with some other words which function to modify that noun. (So, it is a group of words with one noun as the headword.)
Notes:The modified noun is called HEAD NOUN or simply HEAD. The other words that modify the head noun are called MODIFIERS.
Modifiers include: Numbers: two, three, first, etc.Articles: a, an, theDeterminers: this, that, those, some, manyAdjectives: smart, beautiful, small, red, new, etc.Possessive adjectives: my, his, their, etc.Noun: government (in government regulation)Prepositional phrases: on the corner, with blue tieAdjective clause: who is standing near the corner
Numbers, articles, determiners, adjectives, possessive pronouns, and nouns are placed before the head noun. Prepositional phrases and adjective clauses are placed after the head noun.
After you understand what a noun phrase is, now identify the position of the noun phrase in a sentence.

Noun Phrase as SubjectThe young handsome man who is standing near the corner is our new English teacher. A new government regulation on immigration has been signed by the President.
Noun Phrase as ObjectI have never met the young handsome man who is standing near the corner before. Who is he? The President has signed a new government regulation on immigration.
Noun Phrase as Subject ComplementThe young handsome man who is standing near the corner is our new English teacher. Lucia is a very active and responsive student.
