Inclusion Meetings Every month a group of teachers from across the Federation get together to talk about and plan provision for any children who might need some additional support in school. We look at whether or not we need to get support from outside agencies, and also at the effectiveness of the work we are already doing. If you ever have any concerns about you child’s progress or attitude to school you should share this with their teacher. If things don’t improve you can ask us to take things forward by discussing it at the next Inclusion Meeting.
Traffic and parking We have continued to look at the
issue of safe parking around the schools. There are things
the City Council can do to improve things, and to speed
the process up it would be helpful if you could sign the
petition that will be on display in the entrance hall of
both schools. You can also help by making sure you
always: • Park legally and considerately
• Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing or by the
crossing patrols – children copy adults and will
make the same choices that you do, including
crossing in unsafe places.

Instructions The Year 3 and Year 5 children have been learning about and developing their skills in writing instructions. We have seen lots of different ideas, including writing gruesome recipes and following instructions that someone else has written to see if they make sense. These children have been learning a new card game with only written rules to help them – very tricky. You could help your child with this by seeing if you can spot some instructions and then asking them if they can identify the features.
Incredible Edibles Lots of the veg trugs have already been planted out, and the raised beds are looking great. In this picture you can see the Y4 trug full of herbs – why not see how many you and your child can identify without looking at the labels next time you come into school? It shouldn’t be too long before you can start helping yourself to the veg and herbs…look out for the signs.
Inspiring Visit Children in the Foundation Stage made a marvelous visit to Babbacombe Model Village last week. Their aim was to be inspired to create fantasy worlds for themselves. They are busily creating models and scenes and very soon will have stories and adventures to tell. A box or a tray is a perfect way to create a mini-‐world, why not try one at home? Add a few characters or animal figures and the story is all yours for the creating… Thank you to families and to the PTFA for supporting the visit.
Grounds Morning at the Infant School This is coming up this weekend -‐ Saturday 10th. Come along to school at any time between 9.00 and 12.00noon to join in with the many jobs that keep our school looking so lovely and our outdoor spaces fit for learning. Meet someone new, learn some gardening skills, go home inspired to grow something to enjoy or to eat!
