We found out the opening date of the Barra Fun Park’s new aqua park. This will be something
new and exciting for the people of Townsville.
Townsville Tennis have come on board to let us know of some upcoming activities over the
school holidays, and for the adults they are running a 6 week Fitcamp. Details on page 4.

Where: The Strand, Townsville
Townsville’s Biennial Sculpture festival, consisting of 31 artworks, concludes this weekend. Checkout the tours, workshops and sculptures. The official website has a program to download, which has great detail of the tours and workshops.
Townsville Home Show and Caravan Camping Expo
When: Saturday 8.30am - 5pm, Sunday 8.30am - 4pm Where: Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre Cost: Adults $10, Aged Seniors Card $8, Children Free with an adult
A combined Home Show and Camping and Caravan Expo, showcasing top quality products for home building, home improvement, enjoying your home and getting away from it. With free kids’ rides all weekend.
Sensation Food & Wine Festival
When: 6 - 8 September, 2013 Where: Victoria Bridge, Townsville CBD
“One Weekend - Three Sensational Events”
Friday 5-9pm: Enjoy the “Cocktail Kick Off”. Cost $25 with cash bar and food sales.
Saturday: Experience a five-course degustation dinner party with Townsville's finest restaurants accompanied by premium wines under the spring time stars. Cost $280 per person/$2700 per table.
Sunday 1-6pm: Experience our NQ spring, under full shade, with an extensive range of fine wines and cuisine, accompanied by the legend of guitar - Phil Emmanuel. Cost $80 per person (pre-purchase)/$90 per person (at the gate).

Magnetic Island Bay Dayz Festival 2013
When: Runs from 6th September until 6th October 2013
Where: Multiple locations around Magnetic Island
Saturday is the Magnetic Island Community Fair, at Magnetic Island State School, 10am—3pm. With stalls, rides, displays and more. Free Entry.
While some events are running on specific days, there are a number of specials and events running throughout the festival, for example, Tastes Of Magnetic Restaurant Discounts, Stage Door Theatre Dinner & Show Discount, several exhibitions.

Mini-Car Boot Sale
When: Saturday, September 07, 2013, 8am - 3pm Where: 78 Tully St, South Townsville Cost: Free Entry
Hosted by the Townsville South State School P&C. Includes mini car boot sale, sausage sizzle, hot and cold drinks, cake stall, kids’ activities. Car boot stalls available for $10. Townsville South State School is also a polling both, so check it out and kill two birds with one stone.

National Sustainable House Day
When: Sunday 8 September, 10am until 2pm Where: 56 Cape Pallarenda Road, Rowes Bay Cost: Free
Learn ways to turn your home into a sustainable home with information on turning your backyard into lunch, water and energy saving and see how the old caretaker’s cottage at the council’s Rowes Bay depot has been retrofitted to become an energy and water efficient property. Be one of the first 50 people there and swap your old sprinkler for a new water efficient sprinkler.

Fitcamp
When: Thursdays 6am - 7am for 6 weeks starting 5th September Where: Tennis Townsville, 32 Burke St, North Ward
Get fit for Summer with the 6 week Fitcamp program! Fitcamp - fun and challenging workouts to increase fitness. Fully supervised by experienced personal trainers. Every session is interesting and challenging. Exercises and activities offered with a range of difficulty to cater for different levels of intensity.
Don’t worry that you missed the first week, there is a casual rate of $10 per week.

Water Park Opening
You may have heard about the aqua park which is opening at Townsville’s Barra Fun Park, in Kelso (formerly know as Townsville Barra and Cable Ski Park). The opening is on 14th September, which is next weekend. It will be challenging and exciting fun for adults and kids from 5 and older.
When: Opening Saturday 14th September 2013, 10am –4pm Where: Barra Fun Park - 505 Allambie Lane, Kelso (last on left)
Barra Fun Park is open Every weekend 10am—4pm and all through the school holidays. If you want to take a sneak peak at the aqua park and cannot wait until next weekend, head out this weekend and try your hand at fishing or check out the cable ski. Tennis Townsville
Tennis Townsville have informed us of some great ways to keep the kids busy these school holidays. There are 2 options. One is a training clinic, the other is a Junior competition.
Tennis Townsville School Holiday Clinic
When: 26th September -27th September 2013, 3pm - 6pm. Where: Tennis Townsville, 32 Burke St, North Ward
Junior clinic for all ages teaching technique, ball skills, game play (and match play for the older children). A great way to fill in the holidays with fun and exercise! The program is suitable for children of ALL ages (4-17 years) and abilities.
