The big yellow school bus turning around at

the end of my drive reminds me that September

is upon us. Soon the tomatoes will be gone, the

sweet potatoes will be dug and the snow will again return to the delight of us skiers. But

wait…I’m not quite ready for the snow yet. I

still have plenty of NSC things to do before

those grey days of central Ohio arrive.

We have our big membership meeting coming

up on Sept 7 at Harbor Hills. Traditionally, this

is the meeting where you re-up for another year,

make some sort of commitment to the big trips,

and buy enough raffle tickets to make your

wallet gasp. You also get a decent meal. The

club supplies the bar-b-qued meats…you bring a covered dish to share.

A big thank you to Ginny Young for the

CVSR wine train weekend & bike ride and to

Tom and Dayle Huffman for the Kokosing

Kayak & Camp. A special thank you to Tom and

Jan Erndt for hosting all the Kokosing river rats

for a Nebraska Can-bake at their Apple Valley

retreat.

Coming off of a successful happy hour in

Zanesville, we have another happy hour

scheduled in September at Flanagan’s Pub on

the east side of Columbus. We plan to rotate these happy hours around to make sure there is

one near you. Lobby Deb Crall or Nancy

Channel (the happy hour committee) for your

favorite port of call and we’ll try to party at your

end of the world.

Some of you I haven’t seen in a while. I hope

you will be able to join us on September 7.

Good wishes to our Alaska adventurers. Have

a great trip.
