Spelling- I've changed the format of our spelling tests. Now, they will be done on Classmarker.com so that we will be able to keep a record of your progress. One of the major differences is that they are now available for you to practice this whole week. You make take the test an unlimited amount of times! It's up to you to practice. I can't help you any more than that.

Dance- There will be a dance next week on Thursday, Feb. 10. Make sure you all have at least a 2.3 G.P.A., or else you will not be able to attend. Instead, you will be assigned to a classroom so that you can complete any missing work.

It Happened This Week!February 1- Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated during reentry into the Earth's atmosphere in 2003.February 1- Langston Hughes, African American author, was born in 1902.February 1- The Supreme Court of the United States met for the first time in 1790.February 4- Emilio Aguinaldo began the Philippine Rebellion against the United States in 1899.

* All classes* Thank you very much to all the parents and students who were able to make it to the Open House this past

weekend! I was very happy with our students' singing during Mass. Good job!* Religion- This week, we remember St. John Bosco, who worked with kids off the streets and gave them faith

and job skills for a successful future.* Spanish- Word of the week: comer - v. to eat. (Me gusta comer tacos en el carnaval de San Patricio. I like to

eat tacos at St. Patrick's Carnival.) I am sure you will agree that this is a very important word.* 8th Grade Religion- This week, we will be talking about the idea of community. Being Catholic does not

mean that it is only about you and God. Instead, it involves your relationship with God AND your relationship with everyone else. We can see this if we look at how many times Jesus talked about loving and forgiving one another. With that in mind, we will be making a reference to football and the Super Bowl this week in class. Can anyone guess what the connection will be?

"Enjoy yourself as much as you like - if only you keep from sin." - St. John Bosco
