Message from the Wairarapa Bush President As President of the WBRU I would like to welcome the Wanganui Heartland Team, their management and officials and of course their Sup-porters. The early games firstly between Wairarapa College Old Boys and their 1st XV, followed by our own mighty Millhillians playing the Wan-ganui Bohemians should wet the appetite for the main game. Wanganui is a proud union which was formed in 1888. They like Wairarapa are desperate for a win today. A successful season may depend on today's results. Last weeks game against East Coast showed that Wairarapa on the day can match any team in the Heartland Competition. As this is our last game before the semi-finals it is important to show our support for Josh and his team. Many of our players are showing that they have the ability to further there careers at a higher level, a win today would only enhance their chances. The supporters Club will no doubt be decked out in their colors and will be heard loud and clear around the ground. Let’s all join them and leave our team in no doubt that they have the support of us all. I am sure that the Wanganui supporters will be out in force and will be vocal in their support. Our union, along with many sponsors have provided arguably the best ground in the Heartland and with very reasonable gate prices and great f facilities, the scene is set for a grand day of Rugby, OUR GAME! Enjoy and be safe. Hopefully we will see today a great Bruce Steel Cup game at Trust House Memorial Park. Richard Dahlberg President WBRU

Last weeks game against East Coast and Horowhemua-Kapiti’s win over Mid-Canterbury has shown with just one game to go how tight this competition is. Finally thank you again to all our sponsors who so generously support our province. Kia kaha, kia ora Paora Ammunson Chairman WBRU

Pink Batts Heartland Standings after 7 rounds 4 points for a win *bp1 = for scoring 4 tries (or more).

After Horowhenua-Kapiti’s win against front runners Mid-Canterbury and Wairarapa Bush’s win over East Coast last weekend an interesting scenario has resulted heading into the last round of play today. Horowhenua-Kapiti play Buller at home and Wanganui will be desperate for a win to qualify for a home semi-final in the Meads Cup. South Canterbury take on Poverty Bay in Gis-borne and Mid Canterbury take on North Otago in Timaru.

The Gravel Pit

The Wairarapa Bush Supporters Club welcomes all supporters of rugby! Please join us today at The Gravel Pit for a drink and/or a sausage. Well done to the guys at Ruatoria. It was a great team effort with good tries being scored. Congratulations to all our JAB representative teams this year, the Supporters Club have been very impressed with your achievements. All the best to our boys against Wanganui today. A win or even bonus points will decide where we play next week. GO THE BUSH!!

Thank you for supporting today's “bucket appeal” which is to support The Robert Algie Memorial Sports Trust Inc. This trust was established in 1990, two years after the talented young sportsman, Robert Algie died. In his memory a fundraising campaign was instigated by his family, the Featherston District and Featherston Sports Clubs, particularly the Wrestling and Rugby Clubs. This initial money, along with further donations and continuing fundraising by the Trustees is invested and the interest earned from this investment is paid out in the form of grants to young Wairarapa sports people under the age of 20. To date approx. $150 000 has been raised for this fantastic cause.
