Diaspora

Diaspora involves an idea of a homeland.

People have hope or desire to return to their home.

The culture, language and religion, norms etc are different from their home land.

The situation of Diaspora in tradition of indo-christian.

After the fall of satan from heaven and Adam and eve from garden of Edan.

It creates an element of Diaspora.

They are separated from their homeland .

Influence Of Colonialism

The Diaspora resulting from the enslavement of Africans and their relocation to place like the British colonies.

Poor areas like India, china , west indies, Malaya and other areas which are under the influence of colonialism.

William Sarfan The term Diaspora can be applied to expatriate minority communities . The members of the community share some of the common characteristic.

They and their ancestor have been dispersed from special original “center”

They retain a collective memory, vision or myth. Its location, history and achievements.

They are accepted by lost society. They have to live and alone and always insulted by others.

They regard their homeland as true ideal home and the place in which they eventually return.

necessary to know the history behind colonialism .

Postcolonial criticism A set of theoretical and critical strategies

used to examine The cultural, literature, politics, history of former colonies.

Post colonial theory deals with the reading and writing literature written in previously or current colonized country, or literature written in colonizing countries which deals with the colonization and colonised people.

The Role Of Critic In Postcolonial Criticism:-

The post colonial critic rejects the universalism of western canon.

It examines how western literature represents other culture.

Post-colonialism also deals with the conflict of identity, culture and belonging.

Past colonial theory transformed literary theory in the past three decades.

By exchanging topic like decolonization ,migration, language, knowledge, production and representation .

Postcolonial theory approaches the study of literature in a way that interest with other field .

Feminist criticism is the literary theory that explores that bias in favor of male gender in literature, and which literature reexamines as from feminist point of view.

Rediscovers the text written by Female.

Revalue women’s experience.

It examines representation of female.

Challenges the view of “other” or “second sex”

It examines social versus biological difference.

Example of feminist criticismToni Morrison’s Novel the “Bluest eyes”.

‘Pecola’ the protagonist of the novel is victim of male dominant society.

She was raped by his own father.

Society does not accept her .she has to live alone.
