    ROAD TEST(Maximum of 20 minutes.)

    TURNING WITHOUT STOPPING

    Turning to the left without stopping

    As you approach a left turn, you must:

    check your three mirrors, and the blind spot in the direction you are turning into (in this case left), indicate in the direction you are going to turn into (in this case left), select 1st or 2nd gear, depending on the speed of your vehicle, check the left blind spot again (left), and turn, using the correct steering method.

    Turning to the right without stopping

    As you approach a right turn, you must:

    check your three mirrors, and the blind spot to the right, indicate to the right, select 1st or 2nd gear, depending on the speed of your vehicle,

    check the right blind spot again, and turn, using the correct steering method.

    STOP AND PROCEED STRAIGHT ON

    Just before stopping at a stop sign or anywhere else;

    Check your three mirrors. Brake using only the brake pedal, and just before the vehicle comes to a

    complete standstill, apply the clutch. After stopping:

    Activate the emergency brake. Put the gear lever in neutral. Do the five point observation. Put the vehicle in first gear. Establish clutch control. Deactivate the emergency brake. Pull away slowly. Check right and left at the intersection.

    algehele stilstand kom, gebruik dan die koppelaar.

    Nadat gestop is:

    Aktiveer die noodrem Plaas die rathefboom in die neutrale posisie. Doen die vyfpunt observasie. Skakel die rathefboom na eerste rat. Verkry koppelaarbeheer. Deaktiveer die noodrem. Trek stadig weg. Kyk regs en links voor jy die kruising binnegaan.

    CHANGING LANES

    Moving to the RIGHT lane

    Check the three mirrors. And the blind spot towards the lane you want to turn into, in this case RIGHT. Indicate to the RIGHT. Check your blind spot to the RIGHT again. Safely move over to the other lane.

    Moving to the LEFT lane

    Check the three mirrors. And the blind spot towards the lane you want to turn into, in this case LEFT. Indicate to the LEFT.

    Check your blind spot to the LEFT again. Safely move over to the other lane.

    Remember to turn your head and check each intersection that you pass.

    STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN WITHOUT THE PROPER ROAD MARKINGSWhen there is no road marking at a stop sign and no line to stop behind, make yourself animaginary line parallel to the stop sign and stop at least a metre away from the imaginaryline.

    THE CORRECT AND INCORRECT WAY OF TURNING

    There are two incorrect and unsafe ways of turning, namely:

    Cutting a corner, thus turning too soon and maybe colliding with another vehicle,or

    taking the turn too wide resulting in hitting the pavement.

    Now view the correct way of turning.

    The yellow cross on the road

    You may never stop on top of a yellow cross road marking. You may only stop in front of itor behind it. If you stop on top of it, you are obstructing the traffic that is supposed to turnthere resulting into the immediate termination of your road test.

    DIE KORREKTE EN VERKEERDE MANIER OM TE DRAAI

    Daar is twee verkeerde en onveilige maniere om te draai, naamlik:

    Om n draai te sny, jy draai te vroeg en mag dalk bots met n ander voertuig, of om n draai te wyd te neem, wat tot gevolg het dat die randsteen getref word.

    Kyk nou na die korrekte manier van draai.

    Die geel kruis op die padoppervlakte

    Jy mag nooit bo-op n geel kruis wat op die padoppervlakte geverf is, stop nie. Jymag slegs voor of agter dit stop. As jy bo-op dit stop, is jy besig om ander verkeer watveronderstel is om daar te draai, se weg te versper en druip jy onmiddelik jou padtoets.

Deactivate the emergency brake. Pull away slowly.

    Check right and left before entering the intersection.

    SLIPWAYS

    Turning LEFT at a slipway

    When turning LEFT at a slipway:

    Check the three mirrors. Blind spot to the LEFT.

    Indicate to the LEFT. Gear down to second gear. Check the LEFT blind spot again. Turn into the slipway.

    Coming out of the slipway make sure that there are no oncoming traffic before you moveinto another lane. If there are; stop, do the necessary observations (like at a stop sign) andif it is safe to do so, drive further.

    TRAFFIC CIRCLES

    What to do at a mini circle

    A mini circle is treated like a four way stop, and you must yield to other vehicles inside thecircle.

    Circle observations when driving straight through

    Check the three mirrors. Slow down. Gear down to second gear. Look RIGHT and LEFT for oncoming traffic. If it is safe, continue moving through the circle.

    If there is another vehicle inside the circle, stop behind the yield road marking and treat itas a four way stop sign with the necessary observation, like we discussed before, beforemoving on.

    Sodra jy uit die glipweg uitkom, maak seker dat daar geen aankomende verkeer is voordat jy in n ander laan inbeweeg. As daar verkeer is; stop, doen die nodige observasies (soosby n stopteken) en as dit veilig is, ry dan verder.

    VERKEERSIRKELS

    Wat om te doen by n mini-sirkel

    n Mini-sirkel moet soos n vierrigting stop hanteer word, en jy moet ryvoorrang toelaat aanander voertuie wat reeds binne die sirkel is.

    Sirkelobservasies wanneer jy reguit aanry

    Kontroleer die drie spiels. Verminder spoed. Skakel die rathefboom in tweede rat. Kyk REGS en LINKS vir aankomende verkeer. Wanneer dit veilig is, hou aan beweeg en ry om die sirkel en dan reguit aan.

    As daar n ander voertuig binne die sirkel is, stop agter die toegee padmerke en behandeldie sirkel soos n vierrigtingstopteken met die nodige observasie, soos vantevore bespreeken beweeg verder.
