1 Introduction

1.1 Function

This message guide describes necessary delivery schedule information transmitted via EDI for material deliveries to

the plants in Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) /Volkswagen Group of Canada (VGCA) Service Parts Logistics

group.

VWGoA/VGCA transmit the EDIFACT message DELFOR (LAB) with (standard) forecast delivery schedule with

incoming cumulative quantities.

1.2 Guidelines

The EDI message "DELFOR” aims at carrying out day-to-day order processes.

The following guidelines have been agreed on:

The EDI message “DELFOR” is the Delivery Forecast schedule(LAB) for the Call off orders (Scheduling

Agreements) transmitted via EDIFACT ORDERS

The corresponding Supplier contract with VW Chattanooga purchasing department will be transmitted via Header

free text for supplier reference

Suppliers are expected to deliver the parts based on the DELFOR delivery date.

Any DELFOR will have a minimum of one ordering item. Any forecast with „0‟ demand will not be transmitted via

DELFOR

The Delivery address will be transmitted via segment SG6-SG12-LOC

Suppliers should aware of the parallel EDI launch for the VW Chattanooga production plant. The DELFOR that

we require are set up differently than the corresponding messages that will be exchanged with the Chattanooga

production plant, so careful attention must be given when reviewing VWGoA Service Parts EDI specifications.

The "Delivery Forecast" message is based on the message type DELFOR, EDIFACT-Directory D.97A.



2 Description of Message

This chapter describes all segments used in the VWGoA / VGCA subset of the EDIFACT message type “Delivery

Forecast". The description of the segment is based on the documentation DELFOR, EDIFACT-Directory D.97A.

2.1 Segment Layout The following example illustrates how the segment description of the message segments is structured.

Explanations:

Segment status (Mandatory or Optional) and maximum repeats of the EDIFACT standard and VW subset.

The first column contains a data element identifier and descriptions. Words in bold print are elements of the group

identifier or plain data elements. Normal print elements are group data elements. The second column contains

instructions of the EDIFACT status (Mandatory or Optional), the data format as well as the length of the data element.

This information stipulates the original EDIFACT description. The following conventions apply to the present

documentation:

2.2 Data Exchange Structure and Service Segments

The structure of an EDIFACT interchange is divided into several group levels. The service segments build brackets

around the groups.

The first service segment, "UNB", indicates the start of a transmission.

The "UNH" service segment identifies the start of a message.

Segments UNB..UNZ and UNH..UNT are mandatory.

Segments UNH, UNS and UNT vary according to the type of message and are explained in the part of this manual

where message segments are described.
