HOW CAN WE TURN ANIMAL W ASTES INTO USEFUL PRODUCTS?

What kind of animal wastes are high in commercial value?

Today, soil has been saturated with longtime continuous use of chemical fertilizer. Instead of chemical fertilizer, animal

wastes such as fowl, cow and pig droppings are now being preferred by most farmers because they are organic fertilizers.

Animal wastes are not good fertilizers when used in their raw form because of the unevenly distributed ingredients.

In some parts of the world, some farmers are using the animal waste as an organic fertilizer by diluting with water. The

liquified manure is then sprayed directly to the farmlands, although such forms of organic fertilizer maybe less harmful

than chemical, they pose threat to the environment. When the liquified animal manure is absorbed by the soil it also

contaminates the underground water.

But the fermentators developed by KOHSHIN ENGINEERING has the answer and the most advanced machines that can

completely ferment animal waste and produce organic fertilizer with high commercial value. Thus, our products help you

gain more profit in livestock and poultry farming. There are various types and sizes of fermentators that will suit your

needs. Ali of the machines can be operated manually and automatically.

WHA T IS FERMENT A TION ?

W ays of processing animal wastes :

To turn animal wastes into more effective compost with even distribution of fertilizer ingredients, it is essential that the

manure are fully fermented. It should be noted that, when an incomplete fermented compost is used as it is for cultivation,

it might harın the crops.

Efficient fermentation are dependent on three factors :

1) Moisture

For more efficient fermentation the moisture content must be adjusted between 65-70 %.

Example: By mixing with the dried product produced by KOHSHIN machines, rice husk, saw dust , waste from sugar

cane and ete.

2) Oxygen Supply

Fermentation is activated by chemical resolution caused by the increase in bacteria.To increase bacteria, a large quantity

of oxygen must be supplied. For this reason, accumulated animal wastes must be turned

over and mixed while being supplied with the air using a blower.

3) Temperature

To accelerate fermentation, temperature must be controlled properly. As oxygen is supplied and mixing is made, increase

in bacteria becomes more active and the temperature of the waste products goes up from 70-80°

C in the course of

fermentation process.

PELLETISING

These type of fermentators are equipped with hatchet blades at

the tip of the rotary blades and have more number of rotations

thus producing unifarm products.

EFFICIENT FERMENT A TION / DRYING :

Due to the special design of the blades, the wastes are piled up

above the rail farming a dome-like structure. This increases air

contact thus making fermentation and drying more efficient.

FUNCTIONS:

The W-type fermentator uses flange running motor that requires

no chain thus reducing oil maintenance. The capacity of a rotary

motor can be adjusted depending on the type and condition of

wastes. It is alsa equipped with an inverter which helps to

shorten the working hours.

KN·KN-W TYPE Suitable for processing medium volume of animal wastes and producing much better pelletised products

PELLETISING :

A high percentage of unifarm pelletised and firmer fertilizer can

be produced because of the upward mixing and fast rotation.

Based on researches conducted by Kohshin, about 70 percent of

chicken manure will be converted between 4 to Ilının size of

pellets.

MIXING AND FERMENTATION DAYS:

Since the machine in designed far upward mixing, the movement

of the products will be shorter. The frequency of operation will

depend on the volume of wastes processed.

Moreover, with the machines specifications,

the duration of fermentation can !ast from 20

W-TYPE

Efficient fermentation of two pits with W-type

Previously, with a single type fermentator, the mixing ıs done

from one pit to another with the use of a machine cart. But with

the introduction of the W -type, the churning part can slide horizontally.

And far convenience, these types can be operated automatically

even far two pit operation.

In addition, ali types of KOHSHIN FERMENTORS can be manu­

factured either as single or W-type. Since the KS-KN types have

higher frequency of rotation per day, they are designed to have

two rotary portions mixing simultaneously. But far those models

with smaller number of rotations, the mixing part should slide

horizon tally.

It is a durable and cost-effective model and was designed for

processing large volume of wastes. The depth of wastes depends

on the design of the machine such as lm, 1.3m or 1.5 and can be

Adjusting the wastes with high moisture content at the middle of the pit

Through efficient fermentation, the decomposition of organic

matter will be reduced gradually. If the raw manure is placed in

the pit without proper moisture !eve!. the volume of finished

product will be reduced. In this case, fully fermented products

can be mixed to raw wastes with high moisture !eve! in order to

increase the volume of the finish product.

KSD·KSDL-W TYPE Fermentation and drying using solar energy

These are medium-size dryers that can accumulate manure up to

550mm in height. KSDL is equipped with hydraulic cylinder and

during mixing the rotary portion descends but it is lifted when

mixing is not required.

However, KSD has no hydraulic unit making the rotary blades

run over the wastes causing the machine to slip. But as shown in

the photo on the right. pulleys can be installed to prevent slippage.

U sing chain type mixer to prod uce uniform products

Since it uses chain at the churning part and the churning is done

upward, a good fermentation process is achieved.

Up to 1800mm depth of wastes can be processed:

It is suitable for processing large volume of wastes with a small

space requirement.

However, compared to rotary type fermentators, the exhaustion

of the chain is faster which increases maintenance.

Drying process thru solar energy

Drying the raw manure and fully fermented products :

Spread the wastes with a high moisture content thinly into the

pit to facilitate drying during mixing.

Depending on the quality of materials or wastes, either KS or

KS-H will be chosen. (The depth of the pit of these models are

differen t.)

These modes are not only effective for animal wastes but also for

other items with high moisture content such as grain, iron slag

ete.

In order to achieve optimal drying efficiency, the design of the

blades, and their running speed can be adjusted according to the

wastes condition.

LABOR SA VING PROCESS :

Using the KN type fermentator, drying can be done in the same

pit without moving the wastes products. The dryer which is

placed on the opposite side of the fermentator moves the wastes

in order to complete the drying process.

Commercializing the goods :

In order to produce a marketable organic fertilizer, the pellets

should be graded or be classified according to size.

The Trommel which was developed by Kohshin uses stainless

steel mesh and the sizes can be adjusted according to customers

needs.

Increase profitability :

For a more efficient production and to meet customers needs, the

size of Trommel can be adjusted. With the hexagon shape of the

grader, the pellets can easily fail into the designated sizes of the

sere en.

Packaging:

The sorted pellets will be packed by either the fully automatic or

semi-automatic packer.

SEW AGE TREA TMENT

Eco Bottle:

Because of strict environmental laws, industries are now required

to treat their water wastes or sewage before they are disposed.

This is a simple process using a concrete tank. A corrugated Eco

Bottle is used to increase the bacteria count which helps in the

treatment of polluted water.
