General Information

Steel Pipe FittingsPIPE — Schedule 40 and Schedule 80The Schedule of a pipe refers to the thickness of the pipe wall and, therefore, the totalpressure it can withstand. For 1/2" to 2" Schedule 40 pipe the rating is no less than 140 psiat 73°F. For Schedule 80 pipe the rating is no less than 200 psi at 73°F. The scheduleaffects the inner diameter of a pipe, not the outer diameter. Schedule also refers to “pipe”not pipe fittings. Welded steel nipples also fall under the Schedule 40 and 80 classification.

PIPE FITTINGS — Class 150Black Malleable Iron and Galvanized pipe fittings are rated by pressure class. Class 150 israted at 150 psi for saturated steam pressure which has a maximum rating of 300 psi WOG(Water Oil Gas) @ 150oF. Black malleable pipe fittings are interchangeable with black cast-iron or steel. Galvanized fittings resist rust and corrosion.USES: Low-pressure plumbing applications including air, water, natural gas and steam.

PIPE FITTINGS — Class 300Black Malleable Iron and Galvanized pipe fittings are rated by pressure class. Class 300 israted at 300 psi for saturated steam pressure which has a maximum rating of 300 psiWOG (Water Oil Gas) @ 72oF. Black malleable pipe fittings are interchangeable with blackcast-iron or steel. Galvanized fittings resist rust and corrosion.USES: Higher pressure plumbing applications including air, water, natural gas and steam.

Class 150 Steel Pipe Fittings

Features:• Fittings are clean, easy to work with and start• Will not crack under pressure• Tempered durable threads that will not strip easily• Will work up to 150 psi steam pressure• Accurately threaded to the American Standard Thread Gauge

to ensure perfect alignment and correct branch angles• Openings are slightly chamfered to permit easy entrance of the pipe• Class 150 (standard weight) Black Malleable Iron Fittings conform to ASME B16.3 and

Unions conform to ASME B16.39

Applications:• Ideal for use in connecting various pipelines carrying gas, water, oil, etc.
