In view of forecasted rain in coming days the farmers are advised to provide drainage facility to drain out excess water from vegetables and paddy

nursery. Shift the harvested paddy to a safe place. Postpone fertilizer and sprayings till Sunday.

Wheat: Go for intercultivation at 21 days after sowing ,

Rabi Paddy:

Go for raising Paddy nursery. Chose short to medium duration paddy varieties.

Due to low temperature, Soak the seeds for 24 hours and sow the pregerminated seeds in the nursery and apply thin layer of farm yard

manure.

Do not delay any more for nursery preparation.

Paddy Transplanting: Transplant the 4-5 leaved paddy seedlings. Groundnut:

Sow the groundnut in irrigated area when the temperature starts increasing.

Seed rate is 60 kg kernel/acre. Treat the seeds before sowing with vitavax power @ 2 g /kg seeds. Before sowing also treat with

Rhizobium culture @ 20g/kg seeds.

Good varieties are Kadri-3, TAG-24, TG-3, Dharani at spacing of 25 X 10 cm.

Apply basal dose @ 8:16:16 of NPK kg/ac. Also apply 100 kg Gypsum/ac which help increase in pod size and numbers

Mustard: go for thinning in toria keeping 1-2 healthy plants at 15-20 days after sowing. Paira Pulses:

Sunflower: Sow the sunflower as soon as possible. Select good varieties like KBSH-1, MSFH-17 of sunflower. Seed rate is 2 kg/acre.

Treat the seeds with fungicides and sow as early as possible. Spacing 60 cm X 30 cm.

Summer rice

Prepare nursery and treated seed ( 2gm carbendazim or carboxin+ thiram per kg of seed) may be sown for summer rice.

Rapeseed and

Current weather is favourable to carry out thinning of plants.

Need based spraying of Emamectin benzoate @80gm per acre to reduce the infestation of cabbage weber and Spodoptera litura. Prevailing fog condition and gradual increase in temperature may increase the infestation aphid. To control aphid need based

spraying of neem oil formulation @ 600ml per acre or Flonicam @ 60g per acre is recommended. Spraying of pesticides to be

done after 3 pm to protect the honey bee.

To control saw fly in mustard apply neem based insecticide or make foliar spray of 2 ml profenophos per liter of water.

Groundnut Need based spraying and drenching with (carbendazim + mancozeb) or( metaloxyl + mancozeb) @ 2gm/lit of water to protect

the crop from collar rot, stem rot and tikka disease.

If leaf miner and leaf eating caterpillar attacks apply 5ml/lit water with neem based pesticides and 0.4gm Emamectin benzoate

alternatively.

White grab infestation in groundnut can be minimized by drenching Chloropyriphous @ 6ml/lit of water or Imidacloprid 30.5 sc@1ml/lit of water at the plant base.

Summer

Pulse crops

After harvesting of paddy in medium land, it is ideal time for land preparation for sowing pulses like green gram, black gram

and pea.

Sow the seeds after treating with Carboxin+Thiram @ 2gm/kg of seed.

Treat the seed after 7 days of above insecticide with specific Rhizobium culture before sowing. Mix 400g culture with 3g

Ammonium molybdate & 800 ml water and apply with 10 kg of seed.

Seed rate: Green gram and Black gram: 25-30Kg/ha. Pea-50Kg/ha. Fertilizer dose:20-40-20 Kg N-P2O5-K2O/ha

Vegetables 1. To control Fruit and shoot borer in Brinjal, Spray Neem based pesticide 1500ppm @600ml/acre at initial stages. Later on go for

alternate spray of Spinosad 45% SC @70ml/acre and Thiodicarb@300g/acre at 15 days interval

2. To control thrips in Chilli and aphids in Cowpea crop, spray Imidacloprid @ 5 ml in 10 litres of water. 3. To prevent from wilting or partial wilting in brinjal and tomato apply Neem or Karanjaa cake. And spray (basal + foliar)

Tebuconazole fungicide @ 1ml/liter.

4. To control leaf eating caterpillar and fruit borer in winter vegetables like Brinjal, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Chilly & tomato apply

0.5 g Emamectin benzoate or 0.4 ml Spinosad per liter of water.

5. For leaf blight, leaf spot and downy mildew problem in pointed gourd apply apply 400 gram (Metalaxyl + Mancozeb) or 300

gram Chlorothalonil or 160 gram Azoxystrobin in 200 liter water per acre.

6. The weather is suitable for application of fertilizer to rabi vegetables which are at 3 to 4 weeks stage.

7. After weeding, apply 44 kg urea per acre in Tomato & Cauliflower while 52kg urea in Cabbage at 15 to 20 days after planting.

Pisciculture In the prevailing winter, there is a possibility of “EUS” disease in fish. Farmers are advised to apply „Cifax‟ @ 400 ml mixed with 40 litre of water in one acre pond area as a preventive measure.

The fishes should be fed daily with oil cake bran mixture at the rate of 2-3 % of their total biomass.

Animal Science If the animals have not yet been vaccinated against FMD, Haemorrhagic Septicaemia, Black Quarter, Enterotoxemia etc., these

must be done.

Due care should be taken to store/procure fodder for periods of shortage that may occur during the winter months in certain

areas. Perennial grasses must be cut at this time.

Animals should be given mineral mixture along with salt regularly and wheat grains, jaggery etc. may be provided @ 10%-20%

in the daily ration during winter season to meet the energy requirement of the animals.

10% extra dry matter should be provided over and above the total requirement to fulfill the extra energy requirement in winter If the animals have not yet been vaccinated against FMD, Haemorrhagic Septicaemia, Black Quarter, Enterotoxemia etc.,

Keep the harvested products in safe place.

If threshing is not possible then cover the harvested paddy with polythene to keep it safe from rain.

Use „Super Grain Bag‟ for safe storage of paddy/rice or store the harvested paddy in properly bagged and stacked with suitable cover.

Make provision for draining out rain water in nursery of summer paddy and keep the drain ends open.

Postpone sowing of pulses for a few days.

Withheld irrigation practices in Groundnut and Mustard.

Do not apply any fertilizer or pesticide until rain water recedes.

Keep the drainage channels open to drain out excess rain water from vegetable crops.

Harvest the mature produce like cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, bean, green pea, carrot, and radish.

Make arrangement for covering with hail net or plastic cover or polythene sheet for vegetables seedling like onion, tomato, chilli and cauliflower.

Earthing up should be done to avoid water stagnation in potato.

After rain there is a chance of Rotting & Wilting of plants due to stagnation of water. To manage wilt disease in vegetable crops, drench the root

zone with a solution of 1.5-gram Streptocycline and 20-gram Metalaxyl 8% + Mancozeb 64 % WP mixed in 10 litres of water.

PADDY (Summer):

Nursery Management

Apply 800-gram Cartap Hydrochloride 4% G or 400-gram Chlorantraniliprole 0.4% G for 10 decimal nursery area 7 days before transplanting to

manage gall midge, stem borer, caseworm, leaf folder and root knot nematode up to 3 weeks after transplanting.

Basal Fertilizer Application

Farmers those who are going for transplanting should apply 35- kg DAP, 30-kg MOP and 8-kg Urea per acre during last puddling. For sandy soil

apply 35 kg DAP, 15 kg MOP and 8 kg Urea per acre during last puddling. In Zinc deficient soil apply Zinc Sulphate (21%) @ 10 kg/acre at

every three years. Transplanting of 25-30 days old seedlings should be done at a spacing of 20 x15 cm, plant 2-3 seedlings per hill for high

yielding varieties.

SUGARCANE To prevent red rot disease, resistant varieties like CO-7219, CO-8371, CO-8013, CO-8014, CO-6907, CO-7601 and CO- 7602 should be selected.

Soak the setts for 30 minutes in a solution of 100 lit of water containing 150 g of carbendazim 50 WP, 200- ml of chlorpyriphos 20 % EC and 1 kg

Keep the harvested paddy and non-paddy crops in safer and water proof place to avoid rainfall and high wind speed.Go for plucking of flowers avoid deterioration of flower quality. Harvest the mature vegetables. Make strong support for trailing type

vegetables. Avoid spraying of Pesticides during this period. Adequate drainage facilities in the nursery beds should be provided.

When there is raining, cover the nursery bed with white polythene film, avoid black polythene cover as the seedlings grow tall

under it.

Spray 2% salt solution (20 gm salt in 1 litre water) in place where the harvesting of matured rice grain is not possible. It is used to

prevent the germination of rice grain. When there is 80-85% ripening in rice grain in the panicle, harvest the crops and store in a

safe place. Safely placed the harvested grain from the rice field.

After rain if the temperature rise then there may be infestation of thrips and mites in chilli. For eradication of thrips and mites spray 0.3gm acetamiprid or 2ml fenpyroximate 5%EC or 1ml Abamectin 1.9%EC or 1ml spiromesifen 22.9%SC/ lit water, 200

lit mixtures required for one acre.

Onion:

(Cauliflower): Physiological Disorder (Brown Rot/Red Rot)

Browning or Brown rot is a common physiological disorder in cauliflower crop due to deficiency of Boron. In later stage of crop.

water soaked, light brown to dark brown spots formed on the stem and branches may ultimately lead to the formation of cavities formed on the stem and branches may ultimately lead to the formation of cavities and a hollow stem. Curds may also show

irregular water-soaked spots. Which later change to a rusty brown colour. The affected curds remain small and acquire a bitter

taste. This may be controlled by application of borax @ 4-kg/ acre as soil application during transplanting. If Borax was not

applied during transplanting of seedlings than spray Borax @ 2.5-gram/litre or Folibor /Solubor @ 1.5 gram/litre. Spraying of

Boron micronutrient should be done after two weeks of transplanting and two weeks before curd formation.

ANIMAL HUSBANDARY

Keep cattle inside the sheds during night and provide dry bedding to protect them from cold.

Increase protein level and minerals in the feed concentrate to keep the animals healthy to cope up with the cold condition.

Give animals mineral mixture along with salt regularly and also wheat grains, jaggery etc. @ 10%-20% in the daily

ration during winter season to meet the energy requirement of the animals.

In Poultry, keep the chicks warm by providing artificial light in the poultry sheds.

General:

Apply well decomposed Farm Yard Manure/ vermicompost during last ploughing in the field.

Before raising any crop go for collection of soil sample and test it in nearby soil testing laboratory.

Apply balanced fertilizers in all the crops as per soil test based recommendations mentioned in the soil health card.

Harvest the matured crops and store it in safe place.

Rice:

Go for nursery raising of rice.

Select certified 3-4 months duration HYV like Khandagiri, Mandakini, SahabhagiDhan, Naveen, MTU 1010, Sidhant, Lalat, CR Dhan 101

etc.

Use 20 kg seeds/ac.

Dip the seeds in the brine solution (165 g common salt in one litre of water) to discard the chaffs & half-filled seeds.

Then, wash the seeds with clear water.

Soak the seeds in water for 12 hours & incubate 24 hours for good germination.

Before sowing treat the seeds with Carbendazim @ 1.5 g/kg seed or Vitavax Power @ 2.5 g/kg seed to reduce incidence of seed borne

diseases.

As night temperature will low, cover the nursery beds for early growth of seedling.

Apply light irrigation to the nursery beds as & when required. The rice seedlings at 4-5 leaf stage are ready for transplanting.

Spray the nursery area with Tebuconazole 50% + Trifloxystrobin 25% WG @ 0.4 g/litre of water to control blast infestation. Main field preparation may be initiated.

Maize:

Go for sowing of maize with varieties like Kalinga Raj(OMH14-27), HM 11, HM 4, Pinacle, DKC 9081, Bio 9544, NMH 713, Bisco-1, Super

Kohinoor, P 3522, HM 10, PAC 738, PAC 705, Use 15kg seeds /ha with a spacing of 60 x 20 cm.

Apply of 120-60-60 N:P2O5:K2O kg/ ha in 5 splits such as 10% N, all P2O5 and all K2O as basal, 20% N at 10 days after germination, 30% N

at 25 days after germination, 30% N at 40-45 days after germination and 10% N at grain fillingstage.

Apply Atrazine @ 2.5 kg/ha within two days of sowing as pre-emergence followed by Tembotrione 34.5 EC @ 286 ml/ ha as post-emergence

at 25 DAS to control weeds (0.6ml/liter of water).

Pulses: Arhar is at pod filling stage and chances of pod borer infestation in field, to control it spray Chlorpyriphos 20 % EC @ 2 ml/litre of water or

Profenophos 50 % EC @ 2 ml/litre of water.

Oilseeds:

Groundnut:

Go for sowing of groundnut at a spacing of 25 cm x 10 cm with seed rate of 50 kg/acre. Use HYV like Devi, Smruti, PhulePragati, Dharani,

TAG-24, TMV-2 with spacing of 30x10 cm. Apply 20-40-40 kg N-P2O5-K2O per hectare with 25 kg zinc sulfate and 10kg borax/ha as basal. Before sowing seed should be treated with 10

g Trichodermaharzianum/viride or 3 g Carboxin 37.5% + Thiram 37.5% DS for one kg seed. After 7 days of above treatment go for treatment

with Rhizobium culture @ 1000 g for 50 kg seeds.

Green Pea:

Complete the sowing of Green pea in the fallow lands. High yielding varieties suitable for Odisha such as Pravat ,Uttara and T -163. Use 30

kg seeds/acre with a spacing of 30 x 10 cm.

Before sowing seeds are to be treated with Vitavax Power @ 2.5 g/kg seeds. Apply 30:50:50 kg N-P2O5-K2O per hectare during final land

preparation.

Beans:

The weather is optimum for french bean sowing. Use 10-20 kg seeds/acre depending upon the bean type. Apply 10 tons of FYM/acre and

apply 10:30:20 kg NPK /acre as basal Sow the seeds with a spacing 40x20 cm

VEGETABLES: USE LOW COST POLY-TUNNEL FOR RAISING OF VEGETABLE NURSERY TO AVOID POOR GERMINATION DUE TO LOW TEMPERATURE. To control fruit and shoot borer in brinjal spray neem based pesticide 300 ppm @ 5ml/l of water at initial stages. Later on go for alternate

spray of Spinosad 45% SC @ 0.4ml/l of water and Thiodicarb 75% WP @ 2g/l of water at 15 days interval.

4. White fly may infest tomato crop. Spray 60ml imidacloprid 17.8%SL or 50ml thiomethaxome 25%WG mixing with 200lit of water per acre crop area.

Cabbage:

1. The transplanted cabbage is at five to eight week stage in main field.

2. Postpone hoeing, weeding and fertilizer application and irrigation on rainfall forecast days. Carry out interculture and apply 27kg urea with 25kg MOP at six to seven week stage in cabbage after 16.01.2022.

3. Leaf eating caterpillar and fruit borer may infest cabbage. Spray fipronil 5% SL 400ml or emamectinbenzoate 5% SG 80gm or indoxacarb14.5% SC

200ml mixing in 200lit. of water per acre crop.

Cauliflower:

1. The transplanted cauliflower is at five to eight week stage in main field.

2. Postpone hoeing, weeding and fertilizer application and irrigation on rainfall forecast days. Carry out interculture and apply 27kg urea with 25kg MOP at

six to seven week stage in cabbage after 16.01.2022.

3. Fruit borer may infest cauliflower. Spray fipronil 5% SL 400ml or emamectinbenzoate 5% SG 80gm or indoxacarb14.5% SC 200ml mixing in 200lit. of water per acre crop.

Onion:

1. The transplanted onion is at one to four week stage. Make drainage channels from the field. Postpone fertilizer application this week.

2. Go for hoeing, weeding and 1 st top dressing with 45kg urea per acre crop area at 4 week stage of crop after 16.01.2022.

3. Purple blotch disease may occur at this stage of crop. To control purple blotch disease in onion spray 300ml Azoxystrobin 25% + Tebuconazole 50% @

1.5ml/lit of water. Plan to spray after 16.01.2022.

Cow:

1. Keep the cows in cattle shade at night. 2. Provide 3.5 kg feed, 20-25 green fodder, 5-6kg dry fodder, 50g mineral mixture, 30g salt and 50ml calcium to the milchy cows.

3. Provide fenbendazole for deworming @7.5 mg per kg body weight of cows.

Rabi-Groundnut:

Treat the seeds with Thiram @ 3g/kg seeds seven days before sowing seeds. Before sowing treat the seeds with rhizobium culture and dry under shade for few hours and then sow the seeds at row-row spacing of 25cm and plant-plant spacing of 10cm at a depth of 3cm. Prepare the main field

by thorough ploughing and apply FYM @ 2t/ha.

Vegetables:

Spray Indoxacarb/ cartraphydrochloride 1 ml OR Flubendiamide/ Chlorotrinilipole/ Emamectin benzoate 0.3 ml per litre of water to manage or control the pest like fruit and shoot borer pest in Brinjal and chilli.

To control thrips in chilli spray Imidacloprid @5 ml in 10 litre of water.

To control fruit borer in tomato spray flubendiamide 3 ml per 10 litre of water.

To control Aphid in Dolichos bean spraying Flonicamid/ Thiomethoxam @ 150 g/ ha in 500 litre of water. Cauli flower:

Spray Mancozeb with Carbendazim @ 2g per litre of water to control Alternaria leaf spot disease in Cauliflower.

To control black rot disease in Cabbage spray Copper Oxychloride @ 25 g per 10 litre of water. Reduce the application Nitrogeneous fertilizer

and increase dose of Potassic fertilizer.

Animal Science:

Vaccinate calves above 3 months and sheep and goat above two months against Foot and Mouth disease.

Provide dry and clean shelter to the animals.

Provide sufficient clean drinking water to the animals.

Arrange dry fodder to balance the shortage of green fodder during the cold wave. Poultry:

In Poultry, keep the chicks warm by providing electric bulb light and cover gunny bags in the poultry sheds. Fisheries:

Apply CaO @ 40 kg/ ac.m to the fish ponds.

Reduce the fish feed by 20% as the intake of feed by the fish reduces due to fall in temperature.

Possibility of EUS disease apply Cifax @ 400 ml in 40 lit of water/ acre pond area.
