Final Program
CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME
After the great serial success of International Conferences organized by my colleagues and myself, the 2014 World Congress on Advances in Civil, Environmental, and Materials Research (ACEM’14) was organized by combing existing international conferences and adding new ones. This combined event provides a greater variety of topics to be picked up from and will create an excellent opportunity for participants to look into what is going on in the allied fields and to get some ideas on what the future developments in the fields will be.
It is really with a great pleasure and honor for me to welcome you all to the ACEM’14 Congress in Busan, Korea. I hope the congress will be a unique opportunity not only to exchange the recent development in these important areas, but also to meet the old friends and make new ones. On a broad spectrum of topics related to Civil, Environmental, and Materials Research, over 650 abstracts were received by the organizing committee of ACEM’14 and 400 quality papers, including 5 Keynote lectures, were finally accepted for presentation. They will be presented by the world-renowned experts in the field from over 30 countries during the three day congress. I would like to extend my appreciation to all the participating authors for their valuable time and efforts to make contribution to this congress. Thanks are also due to the invited mini symposium organizers for their hard work and keynote lecturers for their valuable contribution to this congress. ACEM’14 will be the premier international forum that brings together academics and practicing engineers to exchange the frontier research results and emerging technologies in the broad topics of Civil, Environmental, and Materials Research. You are welcomed to this interesting event and actually you are already an important part of it. Some financial supports were provided by the the Korean Government funding agencies which include Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, Korea National Tourism Corporation, and Busan Tourism Organization. Their generous supports are gratefully acknowledged. Busan is Korea’s 2nd largest city and the biggest port city, nicknamed as “the maritime capital of Korea.” Busan has also emerged as a city of convention and tourism in Asia, hosting important international events such as 2002 Asian Games and FIFA World Cup, and 2005 APEC Summit Meeting. It is also the host city of the upcoming ITU PP-14, and 2014 ASEAN+3 Meeting. This is a city where the convenience of a modern city and the beauty of nature coexist. If you can take out some time during or after the Congress, you may visit some places interesting and memorable. Last but not least, I would like to extend my appreciation to my colleagues who worked very hard to make this congress a success, namely the Congress Secretaries, Members of the Organizing Committee, Chairmen of Participating International Conferences and the International Advisory Committee members of ACEM’14 for their time and efforts spent to prepare the congress. Busan, Korea August 2014
