Please remember the carpark closest to the front Administration area of school is reserved for staff and
visitors. Please do not enter this carpark at pick up and drop off time for safety reasons. Staff on yard duty

NAPLAN
Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authorities (VCAA) are the organisation that runs the NAPLAN. Each
school has a visitor every few years from VCAA to observe how we run NAPLAN to ensure we run the
NAPLAN tests according to the guidelines.
We had an observer this year and he complimented in particular the Year 3 students, saying they had the
best attitude of all the students he had seen in all the schools he had visited, and obviously tried their best
to do each of the tests. Well done Year 3 and 5 students.
Curriculum Day May 9th
The Curriculum Day was a great success. The Admin. staff went to Barwon Heads P.S. to look at how they
use Compass, looking at ways to reduce some of the workload in the office, particularly as we increase in
student population. They have a number of recommendations and changes they want to put in place to
make the most of the Compass package.
The Integration Aides joined the staff at Armstrong Creek P.S. and had a school tour but also watched the
practices of the Integration Aides at work at Armstrong Creek P.S.
The Classroom and specialist staff took part in the school tour of Armstrong Creek P.S. and then
participated in a workshop on Digital Technology. It included the reasons why Digital Technology is so
important to include in the curriculum, practical activities and a familiarization with the resources we have
at the school. The teachers then spent time in the afternoon planning practical lessons.

Bellarine Community Dental Program visit.
We had a fantastic response to the visit from the Bellarine Community Health Dental Program, with
approximately 200 students at CSPS being checked by the visiting Dentists. Each child received a report
to take home. The Bellarine Community Health dental clinic is based in Point Lonsdale and can be
contacted on 5258 0828 for any follow up.
New Chaplaincy Team at CSPS
We would like to introduce CJ Teuma who will be working with Pete Hobbs in the Chaplaincy role at CSPS.
I am the proud mum of 6 amazing kids. I have a passion for family adventures,
photography and volunteering to help the homeless with the Salvos.
Most importantly, I love to listen to people and be a support and comfort to those around
me needing help.
I look forward to journeying with you and your children in my role as assistant to the
Chaplain.

VicSRC CONFERENCE On Monday May 14th, 9 senior students attended a student leadership conference with Mr McCredden in Geelong, run by the VicSRC. Molly, Lilli, Arch, Isobel, Michaela, Jenna, Tayleisha, Jordan and Bella had a wonderful day learning various leadership lessons and getting the chance to mingle with other schools. This conference was the 3rd student leadership conference our school has attended in the past month as we continue to pursue our vision of having a truly student centred school. The 9 students were given some challenges for when they return to school so they can continue to drive improvement at CSPS. The group are focussing on further building positive relationships between students and staff. The attitudes of the 9 students were exemplary and they faced all tasks and discussions with a positive mindset.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) At Clifton Springs Primary School we value learning in all dimensions of our students development. Each week students at CSPS have lessons that are specifically targeted to develop their social and emotional learning (SEL).
Throughout term 1, and again in term 3, students will work through lessons from the Respectful Relationships curriculums, which aim to develop their sense of identity and to look at their own individual strengths.
This term and again in term 4, Kids Matter lessons will be run each Friday morning. The Kids Matter groups are a vertical grouping of students from prep to Year 6. They include any siblings at the school and aim to have to same teacher each year.
Each group has two KidsMatter student captains who work collaboratively with the teacher to teach the lesson. Each lesson is focused on Social and Emotional learning and wellbeing. This term we have focused on working together as a group, or in a team, before looking at cyber safety.
