turning of Roe Versus Wade and the end of abor-tion and infanticide on Wednesdays.

Join us from home, praying the Rosary.

St. Patrick, St. Mary and St. Andrew Religious Education for St. Patrick and St. Andrew

Religious Education classes will resume this Sep-tember. We will plan First Communion and possi-bly a Graduation Mass once we are able to re-turn to Masses. Please do call or email Paulette [email protected] or #712-348-3132 cell or Christy at 712-754-2739 or [email protected] if you would like any faith activities for your families over the summer!

Due to the Coronavirus, the Diocese has cancelled the Quest Men's trip and Camp Cayoca for 2020.

Fr. Siby celebrates a private Mass daily at 3p.m. This Mass will be offered for the people of the parish and that day’s Mass Intention. If you are able, at 3p.m. light a candle then read the scripture, pray the Rosary or pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Offer your reading or prayers for the people affected by the virus.

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Mt 18:20). When unable to attend Mass or receive holy Communion, we can unite ourselves more closely through reading, study-ing, praying with and discussing the Scriptures as a family. Consider the daily readings offered in the Lectionary.

A prayer from St. Alphonsus Liguori “My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I de-

sire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.”

THE LITURGY

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

Is God a real Being for you or simply an idea to be entertained? Often, we reduce

God to a set of ideas, theories, and princi-ples and neglect to see Him as the One who takes joy in helping us understand all

of the events and mysteries of life. God delights in journeying with us and is the

only One who can fill us with joy and make our hearts burn with excitement and

jubilation. He is the one who assists us in recognizing the truth that is before us and interpreting not only the jewels of Sacred

Scripture but the events of history. If we recognize God, we can also see that He

inspires us to see the divine meaning of our own lives as well. Sometimes it takes us a

little time. After all, even Jesus’ closest friends had to walk with him for a while on the road to Emmaus before their eyes

were opened in the breaking of the bread.

Compassionate and Loving Father,

In the face of confusion and con-cern impart to us the calm of Your presence.

In You allow us to find hope and healing. Be with those who serve the sick and give them Your caring hands. Be with those who lead and give them Your spirt and wis-dom. Be with those who have fallen ill and give them Your com-forting heart. Wrap Your arms around our world and hold us in Your love. Allow us at this time of trial to then serve as instruments of that love to all we meet. We ask this in Your name. Amen.

LITURGICAL LIFE

RESPONDING TO THE CALL EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP

Recognize God in Your Ordinary Moments Mean What You Say

Missouri is known as the “Show Me” state. There seem to be differing points of view as to how this motto came into existence, but today is said to speak of a people who operate with common sense and are not easily fooled by slick-talking or show. We would be prudent to adopt such a disposition ourselves. To be this way is not really like St. Thomas in the Gospel when he doubts what he clearly sees right in front of him. It is more about holding ourselves to a standard explained in another motto: “Say what you mean and man what you say.” If we claim to be Christians, disciples of the risen Jesus, then those around us should be able to tell by our actions. Can someone truly be a disciple of Jesus and not be a good steward of all he has given? Jesus makes himself known to us continually in the Holy Eucharist. When we come together to break bread at Mass, Jesus shows us his love by becoming truly present to us. He is willing to show. What are we in turn willing to show him? Every day, Jesus calls us to respond in some way. Our response shows whether we are who we claim; his disciples. I am pretty sure Jesus is not from Missouri, but I know he is not fooled by our half-truths and misguided intentions. He also means what he says and says what he means. Shouldn’t his disciples do the same? From Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS.
